Hardy Plants????
« on: August 27, 2008, 10:11:29 PM »
I wonder if anyone could suggest a plant/flower/shrub that I could plant in containers to place outside the front door of my apartment in Kalkan. It would have to be extremely resilient as watering may not be regular and it would get the sun mid afternoon onwards. I wanted to brighten up my front doorstep but I expect there may not be anything that would survive this kind of treatment. As I am not very knowledgeable in this area any advice or help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Wat about a lovely cactus, they like the sun and don''t need much water.

Geraniums and or some flowering succulents?
Have a look at the Garden Thread and the wonderful pictures of Cosetta''s garden for some inspiration

Clarborough - sorry cannot give any advice.  I have potted plants on my apartment patio but they are getting regular watering.  I have found Suleyman at the garden centre opposite Yali very informative as to what will work and what will not locally.

Joan - Where is the Garden Thread?  I cannot seem to find it with the search box.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,
look on page 2 of the "Everything Else" section.
I visited Cosetta''s garden in June and it is wonderful, the pictures do not do it justice.

Thanks Joan

Very interesting thread even if most went completely over my head.

I think Gardening would be a good thread for Owners Lounge section.

Regards,

Mark

When we were out there earlier in the year we went onto the peninsular in Kas (take the right hand turn when you are on the peninsular) and there was a lovely lady running a garden center who spoke no English but was very expressive and communicated very well with us. Her plants were great and much cheaper than Kalkan
