Been back from Kalkan for three days and suffering the Kalkan withdrawal blues! Sixth visit to Kalkan this time with my 84 year old mother who had never been before. She had a whale of a time. We were unable to walk as much as we usually do but the one day my sister did take mum down to town, mum was treated like a real queen, offered chairs to rest upon, tea brought out to her nothing was too much trouble. Mum is now a true kalkan convert and cant wait to return in the autumn.
Our first night in Kalkan was marred by very noisy neighbours playing music until 2am, thankfully this was a one off and the rest of the holiday was as we like it, days spent by the pool, followed by lovely food in lovely restaurants. Our favourites this year as last year was House Cafe, the house curry, liver, salmon and spinach really cannot be beat, and then the friendly service, it really does feel as though we are returning family each year we go. All the restaurants we went too were good and we especially enjoyed Kosk where we have not been for a couple of years as we had not liked it as much the last time we went. This year it was great and I would thoroughly recommend it.
Our last night was spent at the Brothers on the Kalamar road where we had a good meal followed by complimentary amaretto and my mum's first experience of the shish pipe something else she is now a convert too!!
Am struggling to get back into the swing of things here at home, comparing English time with kalkan time and thinking what would we be doing in kalkan.
Will have to get on and book flights for our autumn trip to give me something to look forward to. am planning on going in October staying into November which will be a first for us, so any tips/advice about going this time of year will be greatly appreciated.
Only 16 more weeks to our next visit I love Kalkan!!
