Visa renewal
« on: August 30, 2014, 12:15:47 PM »
We purchased an E-visa in April and the 180 day period runs out on 10th October. Unfortnately that is right in middle of our next holiday in Kalkan. Thought was to purchase a new E-Visa to start on 11th October and hope over to Meis on 10th for an overnight stay. For me this meets criteria of being out on Day 180. New Visa starts on Day 181 - the 11th October.

Has anyone had direct experience of doing this? We have many opinions and views but really need someone to confirm that this is possible.

Hi happy days,
Just renewed our e-visas, on-line, as our current ones run out in the middle of our next stay. Decided to renew for the first day of our next visit so there is, in fact, an overlap but renewal went through without a problem. As the visa check is done against your passport (we have never been asked to show the visa) the Turkish authorities will know if you are breaking the 90 days in 180 rule.
Hope this helps. By the way if you haven't been to Meis it is a lovely day out and Kastellorizo is a very pretty harbour.
Regards Tyros

Not wanting to worry you but think you need to review your situation. It is not the renewal if the renewal of the Visa on line that is the issue. The system will alliw you to do this. The issue is that you MUST be out of Turkey on Day 180 of your Visa and cannot return till Day 181.

You are in same  situation as us. Not wishing to alarm you but what you are proposing does not meet Visa regulations.

Hi happy days,
I don't think we have a problem as we have not exceeded our 80 days since the commencement of our first visa. We have only spent 58 days in Turkey since the commencement of our first Visa dated 1/4/14. Do please tell me if I have got this wrong?
Regards
Tyros

Just had it confirmed that you can have overlapping visas. The only issue is the 90 day countback. Privided you have not exceeded this over the 180 period you are fine. This is excellent news and helps a lot of us who split their time in Kalkan. It also saves a trip out of Turkey.

Kalkan Regular - thanks for the links. They gave me hope and have subsequently had it confirmed.

Happy Days indeed!!!

Thanks Happy Days. It takes the pressure & maths head off... no need to calculate the days with meticulous precision.
