Help, A Cure Needed
« on: June 29, 2014, 01:47:26 PM »
For Kalkanitis, seems Janet has been struck down with it again. After taking my son for a long wait at Gatwick on Wednesday she asked if we were planning to go away in October. Like a fool who walked straight into a trap I asked "where do you want to go?" No need to tell you the answer. Went onto the Agni Travel site & found the usual vill we book is fully booked but managed to get the one next door for the same price. Next it was to look at flights and was shocked to find the price was £50 more than in May plus the bags on top of that. I did look to see if it was worth flying in to Antalya but even though it was cheaper the thought of a 3-4 hour drive filled me with dread after a 4 hour flight even though we like to fly out in the morning.
After consulting the Pompey fixture list, having missed home games in the past, we are going to be out there for my birthday in early October, last time we celebrated at Adam's where they made me a nice chocolate cake so will have to think where we will go this time.

Blimey not only the cost of flights gone up and the cost of luggage allowance has risen too, last time we both had 20kg out & Janet had 25kg back, as she likes to shop as you know, now you can't split it so it's 25kg each way for her, she'll probably go and buy a heavier hairdryer, tongs etc, etc,etc to make sure she gets my monies worth.
Well the flights are booked, next stop will be the car from Brave Tours again as they were superb last time.

So which airline is it that won't let you split the luggage? (just curious!)  >:D

Thomas Cook, we always use them as I like to arrive at lunchtime as opposed to early evening

Thanks Pompeyalbie. I understand the arrival time bit, but some things take more of a priority than others, to us!

We arrive in Kalkan about midnight, which means we don't have to get up early, but don't get any time in Kalkan on the arrival day.  We do however, get all day on departure, which makes up for it!

We never, ever use Thomas Cook, after flying out with them for 2-3 years, and doing formal complaints to TC about being charged for things that were included free, not getting what we paid for, late flights, flights that hadn't seen a cleaner since 1943, and in aircraft that were old and knackered  when Bleriot flew the Channel, we were always either ignored or told to go away and complain to someone else (always someone else's fault).

We therefore do the next best thing - we vote with our wallet! (Thus far it's been BA, EasyJet and generally, Monarch)

(9 weeks, 5 days and counting...)
