Thanks for posting - makes me very sad to see such unnecessary destruction - what are they thinking of?

Very sad indeed & it looks even worse now as they have cleared the site even more since those photos. :(

Lynne T - due to a court order, the structure of the Fener had to be taken down as it was classed as a permanent building which was illegal. A bit of a long on going situation it appears which also possibly has something to do with the new plans for the harbour.

For those who have missed it, the proposed new plans to redevelop the harbour area (available to view on the KTLN website) will see the cafe terrace previously occupied by Fener replaced by a 'public space with landscaping and seating.'

Lynne T - these are only the proposals - at this stage it seems there is no confirmation of if/when the plans will go ahead. All we can hope is that plans are modified where necessary in line with public opinion. It might be that a new style Fener opens for the coming season, having replaced the 'illegal' permanent wooden structures with 'approved' materials. I can't bear the thought of never being able to taste their divine seafood tagliatelle again!

The pics mainly show the ottoman seating area which always looks pretty bleak in the winter anyway. The loss is the tent structure at the back of the kitchen/bar which is a great place for winter days and used by visitors and locals alike.

Lets hope this is renovation and it will be wonderful again in the summer!!

In the meantime no workers on the streets but everyone just says "dont worry, this is Turkey"!! If anyone else says "tomorrow or "next week" I will scream!
