Computer related question
« on: September 15, 2013, 07:27:02 AM »
Hello everyone.  We have an apartment out here and try and continue doing business in the UK whilst we spend the glorious month of September in our favourite part of the world.  However, we just can't get Microsoft Outlook 2010 to work and send outgoing mail.  TTNet were very helpful last year, and I slavishly wrote down everything, including settings, password etc. and managed to change settings, but this year it doesn't seem to work, and the engineer Farti (not sure how you spell his name) is not there.  Can anyone help.  I have done searches through the forums, as I can't believe I am the only one to have this problem but to no avail.  I wondered if gokalkan have changed their password or something.  Slowly going mad, as I've spent the first three days hunched over my computer instead of swimming in the most beautiful sea in the world.

If by TTNet you mean ttmail.com, they have changed their server setup and it does not work well for sending out email. Here are the settings on their site:

smtp:  ttnetwebim.com
port:   587
password:  normal
security:  SSL/TLS

The simpler way to get around this problem is to collect and send your email online.  Just go online to your ttnet account and there read and compose your email.  You can also setup Outlook to use IMAP instead of pop3 email.

As a last resort, there are at least 2 guys in town who do computer work, take your computer to them and get them to help you.

PS. What is 'gokalkan' ?

For outgoing e-mails - I solved this problem by subscribing to SMTP to go - google it and I now have no problems sending e-mails from anywhere in the world and all for a reasonable cost too.  :)

Thank you both so much.  I am just about to try these solutions.  mail.gokalkan.com  was the mail server that what was the ttnet engineer told me to use, and he gave me the username of kalkan@gokalkan.com and a password  Which doesn't work now, although it did three months ago.
