Hi Kizzy,

Well, what a fantastic choice you have made your all in for a treat  ;)

How did you find Kalkan ?

Another good website for all things Kalkan is KTLN  kalkanturkishlocalnews.com  it's a up to date news site + Lots & lots more, including 6 Live Kalkan webcams to look at, albeit, you need to be a member, it's free, safe and easy to use, just like EK.  it's much better if you join as a member.

Thank you so much onelove I will definitely have a look at that too :)

We are actually renting a colleagues villa, he and his family had a few holidays in Kalkan and eventually bought their own place it looks stunning - not entirely sure where it is as yet lol  Don't like to keep badgering him with questions so thought I would do my own research - not that much work will be done over the next eight months keep looking on here!

Hi Kizzy....ask away, there's always someone on here who can't wait to give advice about the lovely Kalkan! Remember there is a search button at the top of the page too.
There loads to do for the girls, as you are coming after their exams there will be lots of other families here with teenagers. The beach clubs are great, Kalamar and Palm Beach are particularly teenage friendly. There's jeep safaris, Saklikent gorge, kayaking down the river to Patara, boat trips......I could go on and on!
In my opinion Kalkan is a very safe place for teenagers to have a bit of freedom.....as long as they are read the riot act first obviously! My daughters went out in the evenings after we had eaten from 16/17 and as long as they stayed together, kept in touch and took all the usual safety precautions, we never had any concerns. They made lots of friends both British and Turkish over the years and just love the place.....as do we! My younger daughter who is now 21 returned yesterday following a week in Kalkan with three friends. Quote of the week from one of her friends......I know you said you knew a lot of people but I didn't realise you knew everyone! Kalkan is just that sort of place! Prepare to be smitten!

Thank you Babs I did wonder about that.  We took them to Spain this year and they were allowed to go off for a bit on their own so I am really pleased to hear that Kalkan is safe enough for them to do it again but as you say riot act given before we even leave the UK  ;D

Sounds like they will have enough to keep them going - think the beach clubs might get a few visits!

I cant wait now you make it sound such a wonderful place ;D

Hi kizzy and welcome to the forum. We took our 16yr old daughters with us this summer and they had a great time (as did we). I'm afraid I'm a bit of an overprotective Mum so they didn't get too much time on their own at night, but we did (for the first time) leave them in the villa if they didn't want to to do the same activities as us during the day.
Kalkan is a safe place ( compared to kavos etc) and I think we are going to have to let them have a little more freedom next year as they will be 17 by then. But to be honest, they enjoy doing the same things we do at night and Kalkan us a really friendly family orientated place.
You'll have a brilliant time I'm sure and if you have any questions, just fire away, there's usually someone around to help out!  :)

I probably should add.....when my younger daughter was 16 her older, and very sensible sister was 18. The following year we took her and a friend and they were 17.
Kizzy....it is a wonderful place!

Welcone to the forum kizzy. How lucky are you to be renting from a friend, I wish we had a friend with a villa........they would definitely be my BFF :)
We have holidayed in Kalkan when our daughters were teenagers, and we've also been with our son and the two girls when they were late teens early 20's. It is incredibly safe for young adults on their own, we never once felt worried about them. We were given a good piece advice by Mhuttin who owns Moonlight bar......the first time the girls wanted to go out on their own, BH went with them, introduced himself to the bar staff and asked them to take care of his girls. They are so respectful, the girls had no problems and were always escorted home by one of the lads.
Is it only 8 months until June.....? I'll be in Kalkan in 8 months.......yay!!!
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Oh I know even ordered a new pair if flip flops this morning to go straight into the case lol

What a great piece of advice and will definitely do that  ;D

They are good girls and I know they will stick together and be sensible but want them to enjoy themselves and the experience as much as possible (within reason!!)

Do the bars have wifi - that's the only question they have asked lol teenagers and twitter and Facebook!! Lol

Yes, Kizzy, Wi-Fi everywhere and you just seem to flip from one to the other once they are set up! Just enjoy a drink or a coffee in a bar, cafe, restaurant or Hotel and Wi-Fi away to your hearts content! It is advertised to entice you in, such is our need for it, these days!

Just make sure they log on the wifi in the individual bars and restaurants and turn off data roaming. We came home to a £600 bill one year as one of our girls had been using her phone as if she was at home :o :o The providers are better at warning you about charges these days, but better safe than sorry eh..?
