Four days and four nights....
« on: May 11, 2013, 07:46:37 PM »
We were supposed to be visiting Kalkan for 10 days in June, but now can no longer take the time off from our business so we've decided to visit for a long weekend instead.

Time will obviously be very precious and with such a short length of time we won't be able to visit all of our regular haunts. So, give me some suggestions, if you only had 4 days and 4 nights in Kalkan, what would you do and where would you go?

Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

Lunches: Chillies, Cafe Ev, Fener, Kleo

Evenings: Sade, Fez, Mussakka, Gironda (Small House if you can get in)

Trip to Patara beach & ruins (I'd reluctantly scratch Cafe Ev from above lunch list an go to on of the lokantas in Patara - Tlos is excellent or the one we went to in April but cat remember the name of - follow the road round to the left and it's the last place on the right)

Beach club (Kalamar for me)

2 days water hammocking

Pack up for plane: Chillies

Pw I think the locanta you are referring to is Aspendos.  It is owned and run by Mustafa (brother of owner of  Tlos), his wife Hamide and  their two sons  Great little place with fab food, will definitely pay them a visit in July.

Yes, I think that's it - the mezes were fantastic (and enormous - we ordered far too much food!). We'll def be going back there.

Oh turkeyfan I'm absolutely gutted for you :(
4 days and 4 nights I wouldn't do an awful lot except chill.....go to your absolute favourite restaurant one evening and try somewhere new is my advice but relax as much as you can at all other times. Your apartment looks amazing, so I would find it hard to tear myself away..... Hope we get the chance to catch up with you for a glass of lemonade.... ;)
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Some good suggestions there PW, we've not been to Aspendos in Patara so that sounds a good one to try and I think I will book a Yildiz boat trip for one of the days too.

K4E, we are gutted but its better than the alternative - New Brighton!

Yes, it would be good to meet up for a few drinkies.  What dates are you over?

Aw, I live in New Brighton! But yes, much as I love it, I'd take Kalkan over here any day. Two days until I'm back there :)

Oh, not far from here at all then! I remembered there being a few Wirral people on here but I wasn't sure who they were!

If you have transport a trip out to Letoon, if you don't fancy the ruins head further on down the bumpy lanes into the back of beyond and you'll find letoon beach. À lovely rustic little beach bar for a cold drink or maybe a snack and the secluded beach is bliss, when we were there in august the first time, there were six others on there, the second a sunday afternoon, us a young couple and a lone fisherman at the waters edge, sunbeds were free. Absolute heaven, maybe I shouldn't broadcast it too much lol! Apparently if you keep walking down the waters edge for a few miles you reach Patara.

The road to Letoon beach wasn't passable in April.....at least not in my car

I inadvertently started a bit of thing for water hammocks....We bought one we we came July/August in 2011 and it was a godsend in the scorching heat, mentioned it on here and sales of water hammocks went a bit mad. Type "water hammock" into the search facility and see what I mean....
