Driving in Kalkan

Hi all,

This is mine and my partner''s first time to Kalkan, and driving abroad for that matter! For that reason I''m a little bit worried about what driving is like over there? Are the roads quite narrow in Kalkan? Are there plenty of places to park in and around town?
Has anyone driven from Dalaman airport to Kalkan - if so, any important tips?
We are staying in the Hotel Pirat, which looks amazing and quite central. We''re going on Thursday and I can''t wait!
Sorry for all the questions, am a bit of a worrier! Any advice would be great.

We stayed at the Pirat last year, you can upgrade for £50.00 a week and get a room with a sea view over looking pool with not many steps to room away from front.Well worth it as there are many steps to some rooms hope this helps.

Have a lovely holiday and a safe journey, we are due to arrive on Saturday not staying at Pirat this year but we liked the hotel and it''s really in the best place no walking up hill !!!!!!!!!!!!

The drive from Dalaman to Kalkan is a doddle. The roads are generally wide and don''t have much traffic, but as Joan said, have a look at the threads on the transport section for more information.

If you are staying at the Pirat, you won''t need a car to get around Kalkan because you are situated right down by the harbour. In fact, unless you plan on doing a lot of sightseeing out of town, you probably don''t need a car at all -you could get a private transfer from the airport and save yourself the petrol and hire cost! Most of the local attractions can be easily reached by dolmus anyway.

We have been coming to Kalkan for several years and rarely bother hiring a car.

Thanks for all your help! Especially about the hotel itself, it really does sound like we''re in a great location and I think we''ll def try for the upgrade!
Unfortunately we''ve already prebooked and paid for the hire car, otherwise I think we would have gone for the private transfer, but it''s good to hear the road isn''t so bad.

Will report back after the hol.... only 3 more days now!
