Hi, I am off to Kalkan on 8 May for a three week break and wonder what the weather is like at the moment? Would it be warm enough to sunbathe and then go to sit outside at a restaurant in the evening?

We've been at the beginning of May before and the weather can be changeable. On sunny days its definitely warm enough to sunbathe but you may find the pool and sea a bit too cold just yet. Of an evening you will need a pashmina, cardigan or jumper if you plan to sit out and I'd advise you to pack a little plastic poncho in a bag of an evening - particularly if you walk between the village and your accommodation.

You can sunbathe now is you want to, the weather has been really warm & sunny although yesterday we had cloud & during the night a real cracker of a storm so by the time you get here things should be just fine, as advised you may well need a light cover up for the evenings.  As the weather has been unusual this year so far, very dry & warm just be prepared for a few changes, don't take it for granted.  Enjoy.

We're arriving on Saturday and just saw the european forecast on the BBC, doesn't look very good at all for Kalkan and the surrounding area, he had the temp down as only 18c... :'(   surely it must be better than that?

Sorry to say, this has been the worst we have seen the weather during this period. Very changeable and just the odd good day. Pouring with rain with no visibility today.

The weather has been very different this winter, along with many other countries, here it's been very dry so it seems we are getting the rain now which is seriously needed.  It certainly is not wall to wall sunshine everyday but all being well after this latest downpour things will be back to 'normal' for Kalkan. At least it's not cold & everywhere is looking green.

its a chance you take with May, but hopefully more good days then bad days. As DRBD says its been a very dry Winter which I suppose was a blessing given the parlous state of the roads so I suppose the rain catches up at some point but its a terrible shame for those on holiday right now :'( :'(

Hardly dare ask this but how's the weather today, any signs of improvement?  Fingers crossed it's getting better as we fly out on Monday!

It's been sunny, warm, windy, showers & now at 17.45 local time it's sunny with a breeze & a bit cloudy today, people have been walking about in shorts & shirtsleeves. All of Turkey has been wet the last few days.

We was in kalkan from the 1st May to the 12th May, and had 3 days of sun !
Had lots of wind & rain like we've never seen before, especially in May.
However we still had a lovely time catching up with friends, and eating way to much. I'm back again in 2 weeks so hope the sun is shinning. :)

We arrived the night of the 10th May, since then the weather was fantastic, a bit windy on a couple of  occasions but very warm during the day, I would add that I don't think we would be back this early in the season, as I found it to be too cool for eating out at night, although it did get a little warmer towards the end of our holiday.
