« on: October 05, 2013, 06:18:35 PM »
I have just seen the forecast for my short girlie trip to Kalkan with my girl friends in a fortnight and I wish I hadn't looked! Thunder, rain, cloud....does anyone have any words of consolation?? :-

I wouldn't trust accuweather too far ahead it's about as much good as an ash tray on a motorbike ;)

Thank you, Antler and Blue Lizard. I hope there's more sunshine than liquid!! I've been selling Kalkan to my friends for the last four years and have finally persuaded them to go to some expense, leave behind their loved ones and to join me there. I've shown them photos of boat trips, turquoise seas, fantastic restaurants and splashing about in the sunshine but what with the dodgy forecast and recent reports of power cuts I'm worried that we'll be trying to warm ourselves by a lone candle glowing in the dark while the wind whips up a storm outside and the rain batters the villa. Oh dear....!

Its typical october weather - bit of rain and maybe a few storms but tons of sunshjne too.Dont take much notice of accuweather,as for power cuts, its expected from time to time! There is no place like Kalkan summer or winter thats for sure!!!!!

It was really quite chilly on Friday night - as low as 8-9C in the wind - but the wind has now dropped and changed direction from a northerly to a southwesterly, and normal service has been resumed today! Blue skies and sunshine again, about 22C today.  Local forecast is for temperatures to keeping rise over the next few days, reaching 28-29 by the weekend, so don't be too worried :)

It was also very fresh last night with everyone wearing lots of layers and those caught out buying pashminas and jumpers, so pack something warm for the evenings just in case.

Accuweather is a forecast.

Do you really expect it to be more accurate than, say, the Met Office?

All Weather forecasting is informed guesswork - the farther away the forecast, the less likely it's going to be accurate.

The only accurate prediction you can give is:

It's warmer in summer than in winter.

Do you think I can get a Government grant for that long-range forecast?

I understand that, Chris s. However, I haven't visited In October before and am lead to believe that a rainy forecast for Kalkan may not spell grey cloud and rain ALL day as it does in the U.K.
Thank you to Joan and Martyn, as ever, for your useful advice!!
