iPlayer
« on: April 25, 2017, 08:35:21 AM »
In September 2016 BBC shut down VPN access and now requires a licence to watch iPlayer.  Does anyone have current info (or a working VPN) about how to watch iPlayer in Kalkan on an ipad?

I don't have ipad but have had no problems watching iplayer on my kodi box, chromebook or nexus. I use TouchVPN and Browsec, both of which are free.

Our VPN (HMA Pro) works fine with iPlayer on the PC - but not on iPad, for some reason :(

(ITV Hub does work ok though on all devices - probably because they want the advertising revenue ;) )

I watch iPlayer on my iPad with Browsec VPN. It sometimes asks you to confirm that you've got a TV license. I have.

Mine works fine with witopia vpn on iPad. Just asks do you have licence. How would they know you are using Vpn, they would need the IP addresses of entire vpn networks.

For those who do NOT have a TV license (like me), you can still view iplayer programs after the fact on Kodi, however you want to use Kodi.  Best to use it with a VPN or smart DNS though.  I do not have a Kodi box, just installed it on my PC, works fine.

I have used My Private Network for years on both laptop, Android phone and Ipad. I am in Kalkan now and just downloading programmes as we speak.
