I've just returned from a few weeks in KK and thought I would mention a couple of new places that have opened in the old town this season, which I believe are worthy of recommendation.

Samphire has only been open for a couple of weeks and is a roof terrace restaurant on the site of the old Rami's, opposite Zula and next to Butique Belma. I went here on my last night and was seriously impressed by the extremely stylish décor, beautiful views, and exquisite food. The interior is decorated with lovely antique carved and painted wooden doors, and the ladies loos are possibly the most luxurious I have seen in KK. After complimentary starters, I ordered Samphire Chicken - succulent chunks of tender chicken in a rich honey and lemon sauce with almonds - served on bed of mash. Every mouthful was heavenly. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes from this exciting menu when I return in July.

Paprika is where the old Ozalp used to be - in a great spot in the centre of town, opposite Merkez Café and next to Baharat. Upstairs the dining terrace has great sea views, and the food was exceptional. I ate here a couple of times - once I had Mozzarella Chicken in chef's tomato sauce, but the best was the Chateaubriand - which other couples were returning night after night for. One of the waiters, Tariq, performs subtle magic tricks, which seemed to delight the diners. Although only open for a couple of weeks, their guest book was packed with glowing reviews. Downstairs on the pavement, there is Café Orange, which serves drinks and snacks throughout the day (similar to Merkez) and serves a stunning Full English. A fab spot for people-watching any time of day or night.

I'd be interested to hear about other members' experiences at these new eateries.

Paprika is just the new name for the old Ozalp..not a new restaurant just a name change.

We had chateaubriand at Ozalp last year and it was one of our most favourite meals in Kalkan. Although they have fantastic views from their roof terrace, we prefer their balcony seats for people watching and conversely privacy. If its only a name change here then we can highly recommend this restaurant.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Whilst the ownership may be the same, Memis insists it is a new restaurant - a complete re-brand and re-launch - with a new chef, new menu and mostly new staff. Sadly K4E they have re-configured the roof terrace and the balcony tables have now gone. On the positive side, it was a wet and windy night when we ate there, but they have a transparent canopy which completely encloses the roof terrace in bad weather but does not spoil the views. Hopefully, that won't be making another appearance until October.
