I was just thinking back to this time last week and remembering lots of good food. But , there is always one eh !
Daughter asked for a vege burger off the menu, which arrived, normal burger bun, but inside was sliced green beans, and sliced carrot topped off with melted cheese !! laugh i nearly bought the chef a drink !

years ago we ate in the yacht..(what is now Sofra)and had a plate of fried sprouts!yuk!

My mum ordered a curry once said she didn't want it too hot (meaning spicey) he said no problem!

Some how fridge cold curry doesn't quite taste the same!!

Not in Kalkan, but I once order steak and potatoes in a Czech restaurant and in what I thought was reasonable Czech. Along comes a bowl of potato soup and a steak with not a trimming in sight! Pretended that was what I wanted, ate it and left.....

Also once watched my boss ordering a meal in apparently competent Vietnamese - interesting that a slight change in intonation meant that we got 15 dishes instead of 5. What a late night that turned into!

I once saw a menu board outside a restaurant on Kalymnos advertising "Food for all testes".

I remember a few years ago, Omar's Kitchen revamped their menu and it had "fried crap" on it. Still makes me laugh to this day

Not an odd meal I know but I once gave twenty, seven year olds, the word 'crap' to learn in their weekly spelling test. My typing skills are not brilliant..... obviously it should have said 'clap'.

Similar to helen1, and also slightly off topic, I once advertised an event to 2,500 staff via blanket e-mail inviting them to take part in the popular event made famous by Stuart Hall - "Its a Kockout"

I had more suggested particpants for that than the correct version with the missing "n" in situ

On one of our first nights out in Kalkan 3 (out of 4) of us decided to order cheese pies as a starter.(don't ask why!) We ended up with about 20 enormous puffed up cheese pies, whilst of course the other member of the party had an amazing, spicy mushroom dish.
We only ate a few of the pies, but it will still too much and we couldn't do justice to the main course! After that it was main courses only - except when we were feeling greedy of course!

In August we decided to go to Olympus for a few days, we booked into a hotel where the owner keeps rare breed chickens, ducks etc. At breakfast the next morning they served really nice eggs and when complimented the owner stated 'These are very good eggs, they come from my cock' Didn't know whether to laugh or cry!

I was in a gozleme place when some tourists were ordering & it was all getting confused. I offered to help but they assured me one of the party knew Turkish so they didn't need my help.
Continuing in English with louder voices (makes it's more understandable) they ordered 'only cheese' which was understood as onion and cheese, when it came to 'only honey' the poor mother in law who was cooking was most confused....Onion & Honey?

I often wonder if they enjoyed it!
