I'm sure members have many stories to tell of their encounters with mopeds and scooters.
They seem to be increasing in numbers around Kalkan.
Only this week we have seen a couple of about 20 years old proceed to mount a moped holding their baby of about 6 months old between them in their arms. None of them wearing any helmets.
On another occasion we saw someone with 3 crates of Efes and coke bottles proceed to precariously descend cardiac hill! How he kept it upright is anyone's guess, but their was no sound of a crash!
Any more stories or sights?

That's not really unusual in Turkey or any number of holiday destinations!

We Saw guy riding pillion with an internal door...with frame...wedged between him and the guy riding the scooter.must have acted as a brilliant air brake :) :)

Whilst in Calis we saw a scooter carrying a family of 5 plus a dog!

That was Gromit ;D

One day we saw a mum and dad taking their newborn baby home from the hospital in Fethiye on a scooter (no crash helmets of course) This week my husband saw british tourists on a scooter with their 3 children!!!! (no crash helmets)
Maybe if people were taken to an intensive care unit to see what damage can be done, when there is a crash and the driver/passengers arent wearing helmets, it might make them think.
I hate it when the driver has the helmet on the handlbars or even hanging over his arm! Also what is the point of wearing one if you dont do it up?
Also hate to see children driving them!

We saw quite a few children/young teens riding scooters in Kalkan recently. Our girls were in disbelief, "look Mum, he can't be older than 12".
Possibly one of the strangest sightings though, was similar to Misty's but instead of a door nestling between the rider and pillion, it was a bicycle - sideways!!

I also cringe when I see women sitting side saddle on the back, especially if they are holding a child.

Last year we saw a young boy could have only been about 12 driving a van right outside samira hotel holding up all the traffic at the roundabout with his mother and father directing him and the traffic - stopped everyone in their tracks.

During Bayram last year ago, I a saw a dead sheep between the driver and pillion passenger driving along the D400... :o :o :o
