Title: CAN'T WAIT
Post by: TC on July 31, 2012, 01:30:32 PM
Hi All, can't wait for Monday morning when we set off for our second visit to Kalkan, for some well earned R & R. Shame about the recent spate of burglaries but with some sensible precautions I am sure we'll be fine.
Does anyone know where the Guy is, who ran Cinars Bar last year? A lovely Guy who always made us feel very welcome.
Sounds like some great new restaurants for us to try, Escudo and Sade seem really popular, plus some old favourites to try again, Gourmet and The Old Trading House.
Where is it best to change money in the town please, English cash into Lira?
Oh to wake up to blue skies, sunshine and that view. Can't wait!

Best wishes to you all.

TC

Hi TC.  When we are in Kalkan we take a wonder around to find the best rate to change our money.  Sometimes it is the little kiosk in front of the post office, sometimes it is one of the shops in town.  I have even changed money at Merkez when they had the best rate in May.  Last year our hotel had the best rate.

Too many sleeps for me to calculate before we are then again in 3½ weeks and we can't wait either.

We got the best rates in the merkez two weeks ago over 2.8. Tiger who ran Cinbar told us he's now managing the Turkish baths and renting the bar out to new people who are also really nice. Hope you have a great time we are thinking of going  back in a month  but still not sure should really be sensible lol!

Hi TC we are going out on 6th as well and can't wait either.  We found last year the best reate was the kiosk outside the PTT although as everyone says, look around. KTLN have rates for quite a few.  Might see you in Kakan somewhere!

Hi TC you lucky thing we still have nearly 4 weeks to wait for our next visit, as everyone says the rates change but the little kiosk seemed to be quite consistent in June, Sure you will have a great time Gourmet was better than ever this year and another suggestion to try is Agora (opposite Ramis and next door to Zula) another new one this year well worth a visit IMHO

Hi TC,

Have a fab holiday.Have you thought of a bank to exchange money. They have the best rate...better than in the old town.I am talking of Ziraat bank,a little way up the hill from Yali supermarket.Simply go in there,WITH YOUR PASSPORT,and ask to exchange money. The rate is the best in town.

Agora is a must try. They are new this year but food and service is excellent......top marks from me

Hi Skunk,

Just being my usual helpful self.If you do pop up there you will definetly get a better rate.Almost opposite the bank is Nur Patisserie,so as you have made the effort to get to the bank, you can treat yourself to a wonderful cake.Very nice.Have a great holiday.

Hi Dancing Ninja,

No they dont charge commision. You get the rate on the day.Banks give the best rate, but remember that they close on weekends,so top up with required currency on Friday. If you forget, which is easy to do,there are the usual places in town to change currency.
