Hi Anne
I've used Garanti bank and Deniz Bank, both have instructions in English and Visa debit is OK.

Just a reminder Amberpop :- when using ATM, money comes out first, don't walk away, absentmindedly, and leave your card. I've nearly done it twice!!!

Thanks for that was unaware!!

If possible use your card for the first time when the bank is open so you can go in if there is a problem. My cousin who banks with a scottish bank (can't remember which) used her card 2 years ago at the Deniz bank and it kept her card after a couple of attemps to put in her pin (she thought she must have made an error in entering the number....it turned out that their bank didn't recognise her scottish bank. As soon as we went in they knew what the problem was and retrieved her card. The other banks accepted her card with no problem.

You can use both visa and mastercards. I personally use Halifax Clarity Card which is mastercard, No charges and minimal interest rates on cash withdrawals. See Money saving expert for details and of course as they say"other cards are available" ;D

Be careful of people being "helpful" when you are using ATM's chances are they are being, but not everyone is...so politely ask them to move away before you poke them in the eye ^-^
