Title: Buster
Post by: Kim on January 08, 2008, 08:29:01 PM
Does anyone know how Buster is getting on?  I really enjoyed reading his Blogs and have been looking forward to reading about his experiences of winter in Kalkan.  We all wonder whether perhaps we could do a full winter out there.  If you are reading this Buster, please post your experiences!  It''s great to get a ''Birds Eye'' view of Kalkan through the seasons from an ex-pat point of view.

Agreed Kim, I have just posted a similar request in Roxie''s thread about her New Year holiday.
Come on Buster and Lynn, spill the beans. LOL

Might be a good idea if one of you two good ladies sent him a pm, seeing as he''s not been,"performing", on here lately.  Having said that, one of my work colleagues is out in Altinkum, he text me yesterday to say it is as warm as August !!

I have PM''d them, but I think they may not have a telephone line yet. I have reminded them that they can use the internet cafes in Kalkan, we shall have to wait and see.

Cruisecontroller, do you mean as warm as August in England?  It can''t be that warm.....max 18f by all accounts and really cold at night?  Me thinks he''s winding you up!!!

it got up to 28 degrees on the thermometer on the balcony 2 days ago (admittedly a hot spot in the sun and no wind!!!) - I am sat here in a strappy top - but it is about 12 degrees at night...some nights colder - warmer than August in the UK methinks!!

Hi Kim, Our friends didn''t expand on it, so we will assume they meant UK August as they''ve not experienced a Turkish one yet !!

Felicity,

I can only say that i wish i was on our balcony too!!  Just goes to show that the weather sites are completely out of kilter to the actual temps!  Hope you enjoy soaking up those rays...its really cold here.  ENJOY!

Always find the weather site on this forum is closer to any other I have checked.  It certainly has proved almost correct since before Christmas, temp readings may be abit out but then usually find that so on most.

But to go back to the subject, yes it would be nice to have an update from Buster, and to see how they are getting on.

Re. Buster. The rumour I heard was that he is returning to live in the UK? In March I heard?

Whatever Busters situation I am sure all forum members will join me in wishing him well. Hopefully he will come back online sometime where I am sure he will be welcomed with open arms.

Sally if you go back to the main EnjoyKalkan page http://www.enjoykalkan.com/cms/ about 2 thirds of the way down is Members blog and you can find it in there!  It makes for lovely reading and I wish Buster and Lynn well - I am just sooooo jealous of them...that is my dream - but about 10 years too early.. :(

Reading the blogs really makes us ''homesick''. As my hubby''s just said ''lucky b*****d''. The bird of prey is probably the eagle which lives up the mountainside behind us, we saw it several times flying around last year. A beautiful sight.

It was lovely to read Buster''s latest blog and see how they have settled into their new way of life - all very informative for anyone thinking of following in their footsteps.  I wish Buster and Lynn a happy retirement and many more years of ''luxury''.
