Title: Barbeque night at The Regency Hotel or Turkish Night at the Likya hotel
Post by: Slj60 on July 17, 2012, 04:16:46 PM
Friends have highly recommended Barbeque Night at the Regency Hotel to us. However our tour company is recommending Turkish Night at the Likya Hotel?

Can anyone say which is best. Our villa is close to the Regency.

Thanks

We are only in Kalkan for a week so two nights on the trot is a bit much. We don't have to do either but we thought a fun night somewhere a bit special would be a nice thing to do. Can anyone comment if there's anywhere different they would recommend, if so why.

Sorry that was flippant! The Likya is considered to be the best hotel in Kalkan and certainly looks lovely, but the Regency is also considered very good.  I've also heard Cafe Vita does a very good barbie, and there is live music at Topaz and Parc Kalkan regularly.  The Samira has a Turkish night with belly dancing and so does the Pirat.  Palm Beach Club does a Turkish night with traditional looking dancing on a Wednesday and I think some of the Islamlar restaurants also have Turkish dancing.  So.......plenty of choice but I've never been to any of them because my OH doesn't like them!!!!

I have only been to The Regency one so can only comment on it. It is a fabulous night and the staff really push the boat out to make it a special evening for everybody who attends. It is a family run hotel and mum is usually behind the smoke of the BBQ while one son helps with the music and the other is on of the lead dancers when the waiters strut their stuff and get everyone involved. The mezzes of which there are 30 are amazing - I had thought they were repeated down the other side of the table but found out they were all different. The meat course is enormous and then lots of yummie puddings to finish. Hope you have a lovely evening wherever you choose.

I have only been once to a Regency BBQ evening & I was seriously underwhelmed.

One of the mezze was cauliflower cheese - I am not joking.

The res of the food was OK, but bland.

I attended the Regency turkish night 2 years ago however have to say the I attended the Turkish night at the Samira Hotel (by roundabout) and the food was excellent and much better than the Regency's. I had Sea Bream plus the mezze and thought it very good value at 35tl. You don't have to stay for the entertainment!!
