Update from Kalkan news on KTLN today.
Any thoughts?

Well, mixed feelings - I've always thought the unspoilt nature of the beach is beautiful but on the other hand slogging down the steps with all the gear is a bit of a nogo for me. The complete lack of shade has more or less stopped me going there as I really need some shade to enjoy the day. Lovely for a quick dip from the boat though.

I think this beach is stunning, my favourite in the area and would probably go there more with a few facilities such as toilets, changing and cafe. We don't mind the lack of shade but it would be nice to retreat somewhere in the heat of the midday sun without slogging back up the steps. It will change this beach, without a doubt, but providing its done in a sympathetic and small way it will be a good change. The steps will still deter a lot of people - even those who are able-bodied (there are around 200) - so it won't become packed overnight.

Its our favourite beach anywhere and so when I saw this on the KTLN site my initial reaction was one of horror.
The old lady making food to order and the chap who sorted the shades out are as much a feature of the beach as anything! When she moved from halfway up the steps to the bottom I thought that was progress indeed..
Hopefully they will make this progress without detracting from the charm of Fabulous Kaputas.

We have never been to Kaputas beach. If they are building toilets we will definitely try it. I take it the work will be completed for next season, anyone know? We are back in Kalkan in September.

We love Kaputas Beach and always spend a couple of days there during our holiday. We don't mind the lack of facilities as it is part of the charm and we enjoy it the way it is. Always get an umbrella for shade and usually take a cool bag although the lemon and sugar pancakes bought from the lady are very tasty. A couple of weeks ago she had some competition from a group of younger people who had brought large plastic containers full of various snacks etc. and selling homemade lemonade. There were also a couple of young boy entrepreneurs selling small bottles of water. Second visit a couple of weeks ago, there were some small dinghys for hire (like the doughnuts with bottoms in), first time we have seen that. Times they are a changing - also mixed feelings, we'll see.

Hi
Does anyone know if they have built the toilets at Kaputas Beach yet?
Cheers

I think the work will happen over the winter for next season....but could be wrong :)

Thanks Kalkan4eva
I thought I'd read somewhere that it was happening this season although it makes more sense it happening out of season as you say.
