Title: Flights in August 2008
Post by: sunlover on January 07, 2008, 02:57:03 PM
Does anybody have any good flights for August 2008, best i can find today is flythomascook, good taking off/landingtimes etc, at approx £300.00 return each for five adults.
I am looking forward to my first visit to Kalkan, I think this site is great for discussions on everything about Kalkan and will certainly be hooked on it up to my first visit in August and  afterwards hopefully sharing our wonderful holiday with you all.

Hi Sunlover,

If you are thinking of flythomascook, I wouldn''t leave it too long.  I have been looking at flights from Manchester and they have just gone up in price since I looked earlier today!

Seems almost too good to be true?  Must have got the last 2 seats then.....  Can''t understand why they would want to sell the flights for August, so cheap, for so well ahead, if they only had 2 seats left though...

Hi
I have just phoned xl airways to see if I can get a flight as cheap as £61!!!! They told me it was a mistake on the web and they are now contacting the passengers booked and they will have to pay the updated price.  Hope this does not upset your plans but thought it was too good to be true.  Chris.

Mmmm - good luck to both sides...I think they will struggle - they advertised and people have purchased in good faith and, as I understand it - as long as people have paid IN FULL - there is nothing they can do..but obviously if they have only paid a deposit then they can put prices up....another reason why I ALWAYS pay in full at time of booking especially if a good price..as I have been caught like that before..  >:D >:D

I bet they have a clause somewhere that will enable them to get out it - Oh not another computer error

Similar case some time ago with a flat screen tv.The vendor is always covered by the ''errors & omissions excepted" clause, which gives them the right to correct errors. In some instances the vendor will allow the price to stand as it is good publicity.I would''nt hold my breath with XL though.

Yes it was to good to be true.

After long phone calls and e - mails this week to ATOL and ABTA, XL wriggled out of it, and all flights were cancelled that were booked at that price, even though price paid in full at time of booking :( :(

I always thought that if goods were "advertised" at a certain rate then that rate had to be honoured, even if it was a mistake by the supplier of said goods.

That is shocking, that happened to us once, we got a holiday a good £300 cheaper it was there mistake on the internet but they said as a good will gesture they would honour it. Bet you aren''t going with them now are you.

No, it doesn''t work like that Loretta, unfortunately.
If something is advertised at the wrong price, it''s not the customers right to buy it at the wrong price, it''s the sellers right to withdraw it from sale - which it appears XL have done. Most companies would honour the original price as a goodwill gesture, but they''re not required to by law. I would have thought the fact that Raynjudi had paid in full at the time of booking would have been enough for XL to honour the price, but it seems they are not that kind of company  :P Shame on them, but they know that can re-sell those flights for 4 times that amount without any problem.
