Sorry if this has already been covered but can anyone help us with the procedure for obtaining a residence permit. We do not own a property but would like to spend the summer months in a long term rental property in Kalkan (already kind of sorted).
What do we do first?
I know we will need a tax number which we can get from the Kas tax office (what do we need there),
We want to open a bank account but don't know in which order to do things.
Do we need a Kimlik???
Do we still need to get a visa each time we visit once we have the permit & will the new visa rules apply?
Is it a difficult process to go through, does it take long. Pleeease Help if you can, thanks!!!

KTLN have an excellent guide for Obtaining Residence Permit
http://kalkan.turkishlocalnews.com/portal/kalkan-news/227159-obtaining-residency-ktln-guide-updated (http://kalkan.turkishlocalnews.com/portal/kalkan-news/227159-obtaining-residency-ktln-guide-updated)
you may need to register with then to see it?

Indeed it is an excellent article and even includes directions!
The only question I still had which others may be able to answer is if you have residency is there now a restriction as to how long you are allowed to leave Turkey for?
Thanks

There are no restrictions when you have obtained residency on how much time you spend out of the country.

Yes it's true that if you do have Residency there are no restrictions as to how long you can be out of Turkey for, unless..........at the end of five years living here you wish to apply for Turkish Citizenship.
And apparantly of of the requisites for obtaining that is that you have not spent a total of more than six months out of Turkey in the previous five years
Therefore if it is something that you are thinking of, bear that in mind

Thanks KC
Can anyone say how difficult is was to renew their residency?
-
Great bit of advise KC99.

Renewing a Residency is straightforward if you provide exactly what the Turkish Authorities want
At the Emniyet in Kemer they seem really clued up now , probably after having done so many recently
Just follow the guide on KTLN..................
