i know the government put a heavy tax on luxury goods a while ago and when we were out in march we noticed that a bottle of angora had gone up from about 10tl last year to 13tl and it was about that price in most supermarkets when we arrived in may. yesterday we popped in to migros and overnight the price has shot up to just under 20tl! have not checked out the others yet but no doubt they will follow. :'(

Migros always seems to be expensive for wine
But I noticed in Yali yesterday that a couple of Lira seems to have been added to some brands - I assume because the season has now started >:(

Angora was 14.50tl in Yali on Friday. The Lal was 29tl in Migros and 19tl in Yali....think as KC says Migros is more expensive for wine. Shop opposite the taxi rank was very cheap for Angora in October but haven't ventured there just yet.

Yes K4E we noticed that was best value when we were there last August - also the best exchange rate fo changing sterling to tls. Better start saving up now then!! Hope the foots a bit better today.

Sounds scary K4E - talking of the cats, we named them all when we stayed there - the black one we named sooty, then there was dangerpuss (the fierce ginger and white), marmaduke (the big Tom), kitty (the little ginger and white) and tortus (the tortoiseshell) are they all still there?
