Post by: M n M on May 25, 2012, 09:52:35 AM
There is a boat trip from Kekova on Sunday being run by Volume Travel.
The cost to EK members is 50TL per person. This includes pick-up from and return to your accommodation, bus to Kekova, boat trip and lunch on board.
If you would like to go, please contact Murat on 05325736179, or Hamdi on 05394423067 or e-mail www.volumetravelturkey.com
Thought this was such a good deal. Hope we don't upset the advertising watchers!

Hi cptergun
Think most people know that we aren't associated with the above business, except for being friends. Just letting people know about a good deal and a thoroughly enjoyable day out.

I would like to thank Volume Travel for removing their "swimming with dolphin" pictures from outside their shop and no longer offering trips to this hellhole in Kas on their whiteboard.
This place cannot be called a "tourist attraction" it is illegal, dangerous and cruel.I would ask that people dont visit the dolphins and send a message to all tour companies confirming it is not a trip that we want to see offered in Kalkan.Reports coming out of Kas, from people who have been, are not pleasant and at the foreigners meeting this week the Mayor of Kas promised to investigate as he confirmed no license has been granted to operate a dolphinarium.
Well done again to Volume Travel and the others in Kalkan who will not take tourists there!

As a Captain I m always against to these parks. There were another park in Kas couple of years ago and there were always some ones who wants to go in these parks. After a while Goverment stopped them. But now another company is running this business again. Please do not visit this horror shows and don't let any one to go these parks. We are very happy to see these animals in the wild life.

I wld definitely make a point of using Volume travel after their decision not to offer this trip of horrors. I was appalled to see it on a board in March and wld have remonstrated with them about it if they had been open. Well done to them and.hope many more follow.

This is probably going well off the original topic, but I think this is the best place to see dolphins in our area - open water...

Well done to the tour companies who refuse to profit from these 'prisons' for dolphins. Have you seen the clip on Youtube of Misha and Tom being freed(the dolphins rescued from Hisaronu?), very emotional to see them released back into the wild. Sorry for going off topic but i think we need to speak up for these poor dolphins trapped in this so called 'attraction'.

I think I have now spoken to 90% of the tour companies in Kalkan and NONE are offering dolphin tours this year!!!!! One guy told me that a couple of years ago he was visited by a Russian who sold him the idea of swimming with dolphins as a wonderful therapy for children and the guy took some children to the old park.He said it was horrible, the dolphins were in bad conditions and looked poorly. He never went back!!! Those dolphins Misha and Tom have now been returned to the wild but dispite the Mayor of Kas saying no more dolphins would be allowed to come, there are now 4 there. The Ministry for Health in Turkey does not support swimming with dolphins as therapy, the free dolphins had a number of health problems that could have been transfered to humans and without proper care these may well have to.
Again sorry for going off the boat trip thread.By the way I went to Kekova for the first time last year and it was wonderful.
