This is my first post on the forum but I visit the site everday. We have been holidaying in Kalkan for many years now (Ive lost count just how many).Ithought this would be the right time introduce myself as I wish to pay tribute to a lady who along with her husband Suleyman were one of the first to take in and house many of the steet animals. As long as we have known her she always had 10 cats or more & 3 dogs. She was part of the turkish community and married to a turkish man. Her name was Elaine Orta'c.Elaine sadly passed away on Wednesday the 9th of May.She will be missed by all who knew her.Kalkan will not be the same without her .Marilyn & Tony.

Welcome to the forum Marilyn. I believe i read the sad news about your friend on the ktln website, as Mrs EK says she sounds like she was a remarkable woman.

Thank you both for your kind words. It was expat Bridget Rea,s death reported on KTLN.Elaine took in street animals long before KAPSA started.I must say KAPSA do a fantastic job and deserve all the support they get.Thank you once again.

Hi marilynL I have just looked on KTLN and can't find it either but I defintely read about it on the site. There was a lovely photo of her beside the report. It was a short article and was reported on the day of her funeral. I'm sure if you contact KTLN directly they will be able to help you. Charlie
