I know this has been covered in a few topics in terms of what weather to expect at the end if May but I'm trying to get up to date information preferably from someone who is in Kalkan at the moment or has just returned.
We travel out on Monday so the suitcases are getting packed tomorrow. Do I need jeans/chinos and shoes or will shorts and flip flops/sandals (no socks!) be fine in the evening. I'm from Ireland so I'm generally hardened to the cold but as my legs don't get much exposure I don't want them getting a shock if it is chilly in Kalkan.
Thanks

As I write this at 7.40p.m. the temperature is still 24 degrees. Don't pack the jeans, its way too hot. I do sometimes put on a light sweater late evening if I am on a roof terrace but any day now it will not be needed. We gave up the duvet a week ago and sleep with the ceiling fans on and we are not at all used to the cold as we live here full time.
Have a wonderful holiday.

Thank you Lantana, I appreciate the reply and shorts it is then!
I will still have jeans for Monday morning as when I left our house yesterday morning to catch a flight to London it was -2 degrees so shorts would be a good look!

We got back from Kalkan on Saturday and after packing jumpers and cardis for the evening they weren't required and it was getting hotter each day. Wish we were going back on Monday :'(

These comments have really cheered me up as I was wondering whether to stuff a few 'winter' clothes into the suitcase. We'll be in Kalkan on Monday and I've packed the factor 50 .....! :)

I am also cheered by these weather comments. We are coming out on 2nd June and having visited in August for the last seven years was wondering if it would be warm enough!
-
IssyG, I've never experienced cold or wet weather in June, you will find it pleasantly hot as opposed to the stifling heat of August. I never bother taking a pashmina out with me of an evening in June - early May and October I do, but generally June's weather is glorious and the evenings are warm without being humid.

Hi
Thank You Lantana your comments are very helpful. Seven of us are flying out very early on Saturday morning, I have noticed a bit of rain about and I was wondering how accurate the weather report is and do i need to pack a brolly. I am however bringing one light cardy for the evening and thats the only warm item of clothing i will have. Needless to say you have seven very excited Boltonians looking forward to a fantastic two weeks.

It has been a bit overcast the past few days especially in the mornings with a shower or two but the afternoons have been sunny and hot. The evenings are a little chilly. In generally in shorts and t-shirts and an fine, although my wife and mother-in-law have needed their cardigans especially when down at the harbour restaurants or roof terraces.
Hope you have a fantastic time, we are really enjoying our holiday!

Hi LancashireLass,
Ray and I fly to Kalkan on Monday so we will listen out for Bolton accents like ours an introduce ourselves.

Well: it has been monsoon season yesterday and today! A violent storm mid-afternoon yesterday and then an even more torrential one in the evening, just as all the restaurants were starting evening service. And, of course, that one was accompanied by the usual power cut!
This morning presented us with a massive thunderstorm - you could feel the thunder in the pit of your stomach - and more torrential rain. Unfortunately, just at the time the Bayram ceremony by the Ataturk statue was to have taken place.......
Now the sun is out and everything looks so clear and clean.
I think there may be some more rain today, but my guess is that that will then be the end of the storms for this season.

Our house was struck by the lightening this morning, fortunately no damage except to internet connection, router was knocked out. Given to understand one or two other houses struck also, sadly with some damamage. So honestly say that the current evening weather is certainly unpredicable at the moment as it has been the last few weeks. It can only get better.
