Title: Kalkan Out of Season
Post by: Firecat on September 20, 2011, 12:14:09 PM
I continue to trumpet the joys of Kalkan to anyone who will listen to me and two sets of friends have visited this year upon my recommendation (second set arrived on Sunday and I'm waiting for their holiday report with bated breath). A further friend has expressed an interest in taking a late holiday in Kalkan - and when I say late I mean LATE in that he is looking at end November/beginning of December. Now clearly so far out of season it's not going to be the Kalkan I've experienced but would it be entirely crazy for him and his lovely lady wife to head out for a week or so? Will there be enough still open in terms of restaurants, bars and cafes to keep them entertained and what sort of weather can they anticipate? I must admit I wouldn't mind curling upon on a warm sofa somewhere in Kalkan in winter but it wouldn't be my idea of my one and only holiday of the year. Also am I right in assuming that there will be no flights to Dalaman so they'll have to fly elsewhere via scheduled airlines and then do an internal transfer? Thoughts please  :)

Hi
We always used to holiday for a week late Novermber or early December and the sun was warm and there were a few restaurants open during the day and evening. However a few years ago we went to Kalkan for our usual week away and it rained heavily for 6 days out of 7 and was quite chilly. In the evenings no one ventured out to the restaurants and we did not enjoy ourselves at all.
From then on we decided not to risk a holiday so late in the season as it was a waste of our precious annual leave.
