As we are out in Kalkan in July with my teenage girls and their friends ::) and because I have vastly under estimated their parents contribution to our food money, we are looking for really good deals in cafes and restaurants this time.
I know that Cafe Leon have a surprise night on a Wednesday and Saturday where a 3 course dinner is 35 lira which we have tried and will go again but we would be really interested to know who else has 'special nights, bbq's or set meals. Would appreciate if you know what night they are on and how much they are as well please.

Cafe Vita on Kalamar Road has a set menu deal BBQ night on Wednesdays.....and Cafe Aqua almost next door has 15% discount on Wednesday nights - both good value in this area for folks with teenagers to feed :)

Cafe Vita's BBQ night is really popular so you do actually need to book earlier in the week as he is getting 100 people a week or has done up to now
Great menu - usually curried chicken soup + a great selection of mezes [ all serve yourself to however much you want] - then a BBQ of kofte. chicken and lamb [ again as much as you can eat ]followed by cakes and fruit and all for only 25 TL
Fantastic value in Kalkan and beer is 4.5 TL

I would think the Wed night BBQ @ Cafe Vita will be perfect for you and the younger ones, but as Kevincat says booking is a MUST, we could not make our mind's up last week, when we did decided we wanted to book.....it was too late, fully booked :'( Fener Cafe on the harbour is also VERY good value for lunch or evening meal.........it also has a fantastic location and easy on the wallet 8)

this is a great thread, turkeyfan. We are also out at the end of July with our three adult "children" so we are looking for lots of cheap deals too. We are staying up by Emir so are hoping to make use of the Kalamar Road eateries, old and new as I understand they are cheaper than the places in town. Also, does anyone know if the little restaurant up by the school is still there - think it was called "Our House"?
Sadly, we have no other parents to make a contribution ::)

Our House is still there.
Bade Beach, opposite Fener Cafe on harbour are doing a 2x special 3 course menus.
Odak also have special offer menus. See 'Re: Any early season restaurant reviews 2011?' thread for more details.
Getting too hot to eat.

If you have transport, you can eat any night in Islamlar at the trout restaurants for TL 20 - 25. There are also lots of inexpensive pizza and kebab places in Kalkan.

This is my first post but a follower of the forum for three years.
Having just returned from Kalkan after two great weeks it is clear that some of the restaurants are starting to offer the set meals that offer great value.
I think the skill is to identify those restaurants that offer good value but also great food. Aqua was amazing, leon always good. We tried Odak it was good for what you pay and great for families.
Acros from Salt and Pepper there is a new bistro which is great value.

I would say without doubt the cheapest place in Kalkan is Hanımelli lokanta, just up the little road which is first right off the Kalamar rd next the patisserie. It is a proper lokanta where you go into the kitchen and they lift the lids and show what is on offer that day. Real Turkish food, ample portions and you can normally have a good main course with rice, veg, water and bread for 5TL. It is run by two very hard working Turkish ladies and the food is very good.
'Our Home' near the big school is also very reasonable as is Ayşe's kitchen on the ground floor of the bus garage. These may not be everyones cup of tea, but for good, honest, Turkish food at very reasonable prices I don't think you can beat them in Kalkan.
I have also heard the Bade Beach in the harbour is very good pricewise too considering it's location, but I haven't eaten there myself.
