Title: Aegean Flights Summer 2012
Post by: Tomcat on May 17, 2011, 06:13:25 PM
Don't shoot the messenger!  Here goes..........................................

Aegean flights now have flights on sale for Summer 2012.  There have been a few system problems yesterday and today but I eventually booked mine this afternoon after a few attempts.  Best to book early for the best prices.

We've flown with Ohno air (get it?) several times before and they are no better or worse than any other budget airline, in our experience anyway.  Sunday return flights for a fortnight in October from our local East Mids airport makes it well worth it for us - £143 (including 15 kg baggage) and a guarantee of no fuel surcharges is good value in my book.  Understand that you will have a different view if you've had problems yourself BL.

We've flown with them and whilst I wouldn't say I'd never fly with them again, I'm unlikely to after an incident when we landed at Manchester a couple of years ago....the plane landed, properly wheels-on-tarmac landed, then sped up on the runway and took off again. I was petrified. Its also worth remembering a lot of people who booked last year at this time for 2011 flights found they were cancelled nearer their departure date. Its a chance you might feel willing to take :)

eek Kalkan4eva, That is bizarre. I had a nightmare last night where exactly what you describe happened :o :o I woke up terrified but thankful it was only a dream now I've read your post and thinking "oh no guess who I'm flying with in July ::)"
Ah well hopefully be fine as have been with them countless times but an eerie coincidence :-\

ianb, what was the excuse given to the pasengers for this incredibly risky manouvre?
We were told wind shear prevented the landing, but we were actually down on the tarmac....! I've since spoken to a Thomson pilot, based at Manchester, who insists they must have seriously overshot the runway.
itstime, the plane went eerily quiet and everyone was looking at the stewardesses waiting for them to react. It was terrifying. After what seemed like an age the pilot announced the wind shear story and I turned to my BH and said, "if he doesn't manage it this time, I'm getting off..." and I meant it ;D ;D ;D

Its happened to me with BA coming into San Diego, a truck strayed too close to the end of the runway and the pilot was told to abort his landing.

Quite impressive how just quickly the plane was able to get back on the power and up in the air, best bit of the flight!.

an announcement was made to say we may have noticed that the pilot decided not to land at this time ??? no other reason was given except to reassure us that this was not an unusual event!! we then flew back out over the mountains and landed about 10 min later ::)

Hi folks,
I have just booked a flight With Agean from Edinburgh October 2012  for 3 adults £430 50 including baggage, taxes etc for the lot. I know that Aegean do tend to change times etc but at that sort of price surely its worth a punt. Hope this helps someone else,
Regards
Peat

if you have a look at airflights, they show most flights and their prices for onur are mostly cheaper than Aegean flights,i use them all the time and never had a problem, also for hotels tr booking.com,great prices for kalkan and turkey.
I have no connection with any of these, just giving my opinion......  :P

Also happened to me a few years ago. Had a connecting flight in Prague en-route to Budapest with Czech airlines. Plane landed then sped up before taking off again. Captain said that there was 'something on the runway' !!! :o :o :P
