I strolled round to our local newsagent this sunny Sunday morning to pick up a Sunday Times and a bottle of water. (I live in Sussex by the sea.) Walking home I was counting down the weeks to our holiday in Kalkan (13 weeks and 4 days actually - but please don't think I'm obsessed - I didn't count the hours and minutes!)
So I sat down with my apple tea and opened the travel section of the ST straight to a picture of Kalamar bay, almost the same view we had last year. It was land for sale to build a villa on. Sadly, my latest lottery win -£2.50!!! is not quite enough to enable me to purchase said land, but heh, it was good to see that view again.
Then I noticed that my water bottle was also Turkish, bottled in Izmir!
I think these are signs that I need to get to Kalkan, fast. ;D

I certainly will get there as soon as I can. I watched the Korsan web camera for a while this morning and it was surreal. The camera refreshed every 5 secs and it looked just like a video - waves breaking on the shore and a couple of people running in and out of the water. They didn't stay in though so I guess the water is still chilly. :)

2 weeks today for me, get lost ash cloud. Printed my 'to do/packing list today, is this too soon??!!! ;D ;D

It's never too soon for a list....it's all part of the fun and ritual of getting ready, although as we are not going till October it may be a little premature for me??

Hi, does anyone have a link for this artical in the Sunday Times ? ? ?
-
There was a great piece on Kalkan in the travel section of the Independent on Saturday too. Should also be able to see it online....
-
I think we should take out a super injunction against all these newspaper articles before Kalkan's secret gets out to too many people!! ;D ;) ;)

Hello Begonvil, bring it on!! I'll also listen out for the accent.
I see you are an owner, my brother lives in Kalamar having left the UK in 2007. He previously lived in Kalkan itself until moving towards the end of last year.
It will be good to see him and my sister-in law as i've not seen them since September 10.

9 more for us!!

Nine sleeps in theory for me too but who manages to sleep much the last night before travel? Even if you don't have too early a flight then you have to be quite sure you don't sleep in and as a result keep waking up. So maybe eight and a quarter sleeps would be more accurate.
