Title: Anyone found a shoe?!
Post by: Joules on March 14, 2011, 10:44:19 AM
Anyone in Kalkan found a pinky/peachy coloured ladies loafer? A dog stole one of my shoes from outside a friends house last night!

If you have to take your shoes off to enter the house what do you have to take off to use their toilet?

Was it raining heavily at the time? If so it's probably out near snake Island, taken there by a shoenami!

Joules, sorry I am not in Kalkan right now so cannot look out for your shoe.    I do sympathise though.    I always remove my shoes on entering the house but take them just inside the door.    Usually have one pair at the front door and one pair at the back.    I began to feel silly taking them inside when everyone else just left them outside .   So one day I felt bold and left my flip-flops (or were they sandals?   earlier threads on this forum on the difference) on the doorstep outside.   Next time I looked out one was gone.

The good thing is that clearly Kalkan dogs really prefer a more glamorous type of footware as mine was abandoned just up the road so I was able to rescue it.   So if it is any consolation Joules your shoe must have been much smarter than mine.

I do hope you track it down, someone, somewhere must have seen it.

One of my lovely diamante flip flops was pinched by a dog back in October. Never been seen since :'( I did leave the other one out for the rest of my stay but obviously the dog saw no need for a pair and left it alone ::)

There were quite a few scattered in the street at the top of the market early yesterday morning. Perhaps Kapsa need to provide the street dogs some entertainment/ re-training to stop them stealing shoes.

I'm over in May, I will keep an eye out for any dog with one shoe.

If that fails I will post on a bulletin board incase said dog can read, or his mates, who can apply peer pressure.

Joules: May have a clue. While waiting near the car park last Tuesday morning, several of us observed a very shady looking (black) dog, about 2ft tall leaping hapily around with a very smart, size 10 black brogue in it's mouth. Could this also be one of yours? Dog has a slight limp, possibly resulting from a kick and a yellow ear tag. No more information at present but will aprehend and question if seen again.

Be careful of this dog...maybe he had eaten the brogue wearer and the shoe was all that was left ;D ;D

;D would not have the missing shoe problem if my wife had opened the web site she suggested last year for kalkan called "SHOES REUNITED"  ! lol
Title: Re: Anyone found a shoe? is there a dog involved!

??? Only just read this about the missing shoe. My neighbour is also having the same problem, I walked past the old Istanbul bar yesterday and saw ONE pink low back shoe? It was the 2nd time her shoes had gone missing from outside her house. Its the dogs & she knows it, so no argument then! OH but then we go onto another topic and for sure there will be a argument????
