Title: Kalkan for families with children aged 5 - 13?
Post by: tuppy on January 12, 2011, 05:19:25 PM
Hello again,

My Mum and Dad are so jealous of our planned visit to Kalkan that they are thinking of joing us in a seperate villa.

They have four children aged 5, 7, 9 and 13.

Just wondered if there would be any activities or entertainment for them in the evening?

I have seen a few ideas to keep them busy during the day - kalamar beach club, patara beach and some water sporting stuff but if theres any other daytime activities you can recommend that would be great also.

thanks

Tuppy

No one seems to want to tell you that there's nothing for children to do in Kalkan. So I'll say it.

LOL Dellbarr that's a bit harsh :o

Just noticed this thread and although there may not be any organised activities or entertainment there still is plenty to do. My son loved Kalkan as a child and still does as a big 22 year old child. It really depends what they are interested in :)

As Itstime says, It really does depend on what the children like doing.  If they mainly like playing in the pool or the sea then they will love Kalkan.  If they are looking for organised kids clubs or places like water parks or amusement arcades then Kalkan wont be for them.

My daughters have been coming to Kalkan since they were 10 and love it, but they are happy with the pool or beachclubs and going out for meals or having BBQ's of a night.  As they've got older we do take a laptop so the they can keep in touch with their mates through Facebook  ::)  ::)

I have 2 easily bored kids (4 and 8) and they love Kalkan. The pebble beach is great and safe with a park at the back, the beach clubs are fab, the staff in the bars and restaurants love kids and always make a fuss of them. There is Patara beach not far with great waves for surfing, Kaputas beach, Olu Deniz for fab snorkelling, a water park in Calis beach (about 1 and 1/4 hrs), Saklikent Gorge. Anyone who says Kalkan isnt for kids is seriously deluded!

Hi, Worked over the years for us. Now our 2 grandsons are going!
The boys loved the freedom to go on their own into the village and meet the locals. Having said that they love the pool and beach clubs and are into their watersports. You'll not get children's clubs etc.

Worked for us to! My two were 8 and 10 when we first visited, they are now 23 and 25 and are still coming fairly regularly. There are no organised activities, childrens clubs etc but if they enjoy the beach, the sea/pool, eating out, they will enjoy it. Also if you are in a villa they will have a lot more freedom than in a hotel. Kalkan is safe and the older ones will enjoy their independence.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the replies. The family have decided against Kalkan. Possibly just until the little ones are a bit older and can be left to their own.

All of the activities sound good though so we will try them out ourselves!

thanks again
