Post by: whiteonyx on December 08, 2010, 07:04:54 PM

Swim on Kalkan beach on Jan 1st??  A doddle!  The water will be at least 16C - here we swim on Eastbourne beach on Jan 1st where the water is about 7C!!   ::) ;D

But I'll sponsor anyone who swims for Kalkan school on Jan 1st - just joking there but I would not find it a trial to swim in Kalkan waters any time of year!!  ;D

yes i would be up for it as well, providing its not an "early morning swim" for obvious reasons! :)

3rd Annual Kalkan Looney Dook
This will be held on 1 January at 12 noon at the Town Beach - near Kleo Cafe/Bar
Last year we had 41 swimmers, many of whom came in fancy dress. This time the emphasis will be on fancy dress and a very special prize will be awarded to the winner - judged by a panel of Kalkan "experts". There is 5 TL participation fee and there will also be a collection and raffle in the Kleo Bar with all the proceeds going to the Kalkan Ozel Egitim ve Rehabiltasyon Merkez - last year we raised 1028.25 TL.
There will also be a complimentary whisky or Irn Bru for those survivors.
This is not only a fun swim for charity but is also an excellent social occasion.
We look forward to seeing you on 1 January
Robert Ferguson

Agreed that Eastbourne is more of a challenge to Kalkan, however, you should come North and try our Looney Dook at South Queensferry. This makes Eastbourne seem like a hot bath.

Well done, however.

Fred and Wilma are unable to come to Kalkan this year so the Fancy Dress Contest will be wide open

This is indeed true we'll be in Blighty whilst the festivities go on, but you never know Fred may appear even without us!
Hope you all enjoy, merry christmas and raise lots of money on New Years day
