OK. So, today we went out (here, where we live in the UK, not in Kalkan) and bought an Afghani rabab, as you do. It's a stringed instrument, similar to the Turkish oud and very beautiful, with inlaid mother-of-pearl. As it's an antique (about 70 years old), it's obviously lost most of its strings and it would be nice to get it re-stringed (just for appearance's sake - I don't think we'll be trying to play it!). Does anyone know of anyone in the UK who specialises in Arab/Middle Eastern/Turkish insruments?? We couldn't bring it to Kalkan, as it's too fragile to make the journey (bit like me, really).
No?? OK, it was worth a try - I'll get me coat.........
