- We decided to do a big shop and get it delivered. So straight after breakfast & before it was too much above 30C, we strolled up to Yali Supermarket (only because we were familiar with it last year and it has a wide choice). Several supermarkets are closer by and lots of them deliver.
The bread man was stacking out the fresh bread, still warm, and we purchased some flat breads for lunch.
Yali said they would deliver our shopping in about half an hour – they deliver free, and it saves you carrying all the heavy stuff in this heat.
The prices are probably OK, as I didn’t take much notice, and I still can’t get my head around dividing by 2.3. The best I do is “halve it, and it’s better than thatâ€ÂÂ.
We strolled back down the hill to the greengrocer and a TL15 bill (that’s a bit better than £7.50!) saw us laden with bags of the freshest fruit and vegetables. It was buzzing in there.
As soon as we arrived back at the apartment, Mr Yali Delivery Man was there. What service!
Resul at Oz Adana had recommended “Jasmine†for a shave. It’s opposite the Asfiya Hotel, and had written me a note to hand to Mehmet. I think it translated something like “look after this gentleman and you will make me very happy!â€ÂÂ. - So I went along and handed his wife the note. She smiled and rang Mehmet, who was at home looking after the baby. A few minutes later he arrived with the baby under his arm, and what followed was the perfect shave and neck massage. Probably the best TL10 ever.
I floated back down the Kalamar Road to a fresh salad and flat bread lunch at the Apartment, ignoring the calls from Chillies as I went by to go in for an “Istanbul Blue & Tonicâ€ÂÂ. Then, treated myself to an iPOD afternoon, snoring by the pool.
