Title: easy jet luggage allowance - CONFUSED!
Post by: AMY-WARD on July 16, 2010, 11:29:02 PM
Can anyone explain to me if we're allowed 32kg or 20kg? It says this:
Every item of standard checked ('hold') baggage will incur a fee. The applicable online fee will be displayed at the time of booking baggage (whether during or after booking your flight). Alternatively, you may choose to pay a higher charge at the airport. You will be advised of this charge at the airport. Payment of the fee provides you with an aggregate allowance of 20kg across all pieces of hold baggage which may only be increased by payment of excess weight charges.

The maximum acceptable weight for each single piece of checked-in hold baggage is 32kg. Baggage which exceeds this weight will not be accepted for carriage.

Where checked-in hold baggage exceeds 20kgs in weight (subject to the above rule), each passenger will pay an excess baggage charge per kg up to a passenger maximum of 50kgs, as follows:

Currency Excess Baggage per kg
GBP 10.00

Does this mean that we can have a single bag of up to 32kg? or is it 20kg?

It means if there are two of you, you have 40kg of luggage allowance between you.  Any one bag may not weight more than 32kg. e.g. one bag weighs 30kg and one 10kg - okay, but if one bag weighs 33kg and the other 7kg - not okay.

AMY-WARD, BlackSnake's reply assumes that you have paid for 2 hold bags at the time of booking or, subsequent to that on the EasyJet website.
If you can manage with 32kg you need only book and pay for 1 hold bag between 2 of you. If not, then you can pay and take 20kg each when you book 2 hold bags. Don't forget too that hand baggage weight is virtually unlimited with EasyJet, as long as you can lift it into the locker.

Fab, thanks guys. We have only paid for one bag as my other half travels light....and then asks "do we have any..." when we get there. I just didnt want to get caught out with easy jet saying I could only have 20kg and packed 30kg.

Thanks again, 2 days!!!!! woooooo!!!!!
