Title: Kalkan Update - end May 2010
Post by: happy days on May 31, 2010, 09:28:19 PM
Just back from having spent 4 weeks in Kalkan - thought i'd share a few observations:-

The locals are saying that there has been a slow start to the season, albeit when we left things were starting to pick up. Also, weather has been somewhat erratic - very unsettled in late April/early May - also commented on by locals.

Improvements -

the council are doing a great job in starting to improve the facilities at Kalamar Bay - the landscaping at the public beach and the cafe/bar when opened will be great additions.

The walkway at the public beach in Kalkan and the new cafe areas are also great improvements.

Also, there looks to be work started on the coastal walkway from the harbour to Yali beach club. More positive.

The new additions Bread n More, Chillies, etc are great additions to the Kalamar Road.

Work on the D400 widening appears to have stopped for the moment, albeit they have made tremendous progress since they started.

Signs of bottle recycling coming - fantastic. Just need to keep pushing for general recycling throughout town.

Overall positive progress being made in infrastructure around town and all for the good.

Rest of stuff like restaurants, bars, people, etc as good as ever! Only slight negative - prices on way up!!

Enjoy Kalkan - whenever you go!  :)
