Now, I'm aware there is a search facility on here and I know the subject has been well covered in the past, but I still can't see what I would describe as a definitive (and current) guide to the various beach clubs and their pros and cons etc.
So, your mission, should choose to take it, is to write one ;D
Or ::) depending on your attitude

From what I have read (not experienced), from Kalkan:
1. Palm Beach = needs a water taxi, has cold water, good lunches
2. Kalamar = lively, the sun sets a little earlier here
3. Yali = quiet, a little more luxurious
4. Mahal = quiet, needs a water taxi
5. IBO = ?
Please feel free to correct &/or amplify as per your own findings.

Ibo is now Indigo and is in a great position for the town, just at the corner of the harbour. It has been furnished nicely. Our new PM ate there a few years ago with his wealthy inlaws and about 70 other people who they were holidaying with on very expensive boats.

Yes: Indigo is my favourite: handy for town (if you don't fancy eating at the Club's restaurant) and helpful staff. It is now owned by Ahmet, who also owns the Mediteran Hotel, and the food has improved from its previous incarnations (Yacht Club, Ibo's).

They're all expensive.
Kalkan Beach Park was by far the best but hasn't opened yet. And may not open. The water slide disappeared in the last few days.
Caretta Caretta now has a boat, presumably to stop you deciding to go to Yalı on the way there.
Yalı was good but has new management this year looking for a return on the decking they put so prices are high.
Indigo's definitely expensive. Unless you have wealthy in-laws.

Kalamar has very, very good snorkelling easily better than any of the other beech clubs. Best time earlier in the day before it gets too hot. It also has a water trampoline, jet skis, speed boat plus towing toys (rings, bananas etc and a dive centre. Plus free pedalos, canoes, but a major plus is that all the areas are roped off with dedicated life guards.

Caretta Caretta has had amajor facelift and really is worth a visit.Hospitality is first class !!

Hi there
Any news on Kalkan Beach Park? Is it going to re-open this year and if so will they have the cafe facilities? I know they experienced some damage during the storms a few months ago. I see someone has said the waterslide has been removed.
Also do any of the other beach clubs provide free transport (apart from the boat services) as they have done in past eg Kalamar would pay taxi fare?

Kalkan beach Club boat left the harbour today with people on board. Through my binoculars I can still see the slide in place as well as the swim pontoon and a water trampoline. But I don't see much activity over there.

Reference Yali beach club - no charge for beds or umbrellas, so not surprisingly Mustapha has to make his money on the food. Looking very smart this year with new decking laid down. Other beach clubs charge for beds and so their food menu may be cheaper. Swings and roundabouts................

We've used Kalamar beach club for the last two years when going to one and found it great fun.
Coming back for a third year in August and I wondered where Carretta Carretta is?

whereabouts is the Yali beach club please? despite having been to Kalkan 5 times we have never used the clubs around the harbour.....could someone please describe how you can get to the ones that are 'walkable' from the harbour, what are they like and don't they get very crowded? thanks

Next to carretta carretta.They are the two hotels you can see from the harbour as you look to the right along the coastline. About a 300-400m walk from the harbour wall.

If you're staying in Kisla both Kalkan Park and Mahal can be reached on foot. Similarly we walk down to Palm when we are staying in Komurluk and we know people who stay in Kalamar and walk to the beach club there, so transport isn't always neccessary. There's a water taxi to Patara Prince, so I'm assuming their beach club is open to the public. We did want to go to Yali and Caretta this year but as the weather was so changeable, we didn't really bother with beach clubs - just Palm because we can walk to it and it is my favourite! We spent most days at the pool or the town beach - a parasol and two beds for 7tl and our own coolbag with drinks, corn on the cob and entertainment from the resident dog and people exiting the sea....what's not to like? ;D

We have just returned from 2 weeks in Kalkan. We found kalamar bay very expensive - 12 lire each to get in and the food and drinks very expensive so we didn't go back as with family of 5 it was too much. Kalkan town beach club had just opened: free water taxi and free to get in. Food much cheaper but was a bit shabby round the edges and beware the tar on the pebbles which has ruined 2 new bikinis!! Kids enjoyed the slide in to the sea though. We didn't try any of the others and found patara beach much nicer.

We have always preferred Palm. Great staff including Dimiitri. I have heard though that they no longer use Blue Marlin for water sports. Great food. Good swimmimg platform and water trampoline. The water is cold (spring fed) so so refreshing once you are in.

We have also just returned from two weeks in Kalkan and only visited Palm Beach Club which is our favourite. Cost for the day for two people including sunbeds, coffee, water and lunch with a drink 58 lira which I thought was excellent value for the service and facilities. Everything spotlessly clean and very friendly staff, including Dimitri. Glad to see him looking so well after his motoring accident and subsequent brain surgery.

Yes, Palm no longer use Blue Marlin...and their path to the town beach is there but had to be closed because of the rubble falling down from the new Kisla service road. They hope to re-open it next year once the road has been completed. D looks so different without his hair, but as alisonh says, it was good to see him looking so well!

After doing a bit of investigating, it looks like Kalamar Beach Club will be best for us as it seems to be the most family orientated. Does anyone know what the charge is? do they charge a set price as mentioned for the Palm to include everything for the day? and also, silly question - I'm guessing they provide towels! thanks.

RosaMoline, the only set price is for the sunbeds and parasol and I'm not sure how much that is in Kalamar. You pay on top of that for all drinks and food - so you can make it as cheap or as expensive as you want. Kalamar is definitely the best beach club for families/younger crowds, IMO, because of the free pedalos etc. You will need to take your own beach towels.

There was a post about Kalamar on page 1 and they said it's 12lira each.
Our favourites in the past (we don't have kids) have been Mahal and IBO because they're more peaceful, Kalkan Beach club would be a good choice for families too.

You will also need to make sure you get your money's worth by going in the morning as a large area of this beach club loses the sun quite early on in the aftrenoon - if its sun your after, of course :)
I like to stay at the beach club until around 6pm - sometimes later - but still be in the sun 8)

Lancs Lass- as I mentioned earlier in this thread, Yali do not charge for sunbeds and parasols. You only pay for food etc.

V quick feedback: Kalkan Palm Beach was excellent (cold sea water, fun trampoline, great service, cool cabannas, and unexpectedly great food). Caretta Caretta not so good all round. Yali was pretty good, but a little dull.

hi i have just came back from kisla yesterday, it is 8 lire for water boat but if you buy and eat at kalkan beach club they refund you, but the staff seemed very indifferent and twice we went for lunch and walked out as no-one came to serve us at all.

Our favorite is the Mahal beach club. Also been to the Yali. Has the Yali updated it's menu since the refurb?
