Going to Kalkan in August and have heard different reports on which currency to take -turkish lire, euros or sterling. Can anybody who has been recently throw any light on this?!! Thanks ???

I take £50-100 in Turkish lira and the rest in stirling, you can pay in most eating places, bars and shops ect with stirling and you get you change in TL,so you end up a bit of both.
A lot of forum members use a nationwide card, which seems to be a good way without having a lot of cash with you,but cash works for me and you dont have to keep changing money.
have fun 8)

Hi,
We do the same. If you need a bit more lira they will change at a good rate in quite a few shops in the old town.

downside of too much cash is if you lose it you have no comeback ...we take Turkish Lira for a couple of days then just draw out on a nationwide card(flex is free withdrawl) every couple of days atms are easily found

Jebbie, you don't really see things priced in Euros in Kalkan. We take a combination of lira from our last visit, sterling and use the ATM.

Thanks everyone!

You might like to take some euros with you in case you go over to Meis. The exchange rate over there at the bank is terrible!

As long as it's currency the Turks, on the whole, don't give a toss where it comes from except of course for that monopoly money from north of the wall ;D
