We need to replace our 8 1.5m umbrellas again, as after 1 season they have faded very badly.
We have been buying the standard yellow and white umbrellas you see on sale around Kalkan. Can anyone recommend a more durable 1.5m umbrella we could replace them with.

No need to replace the entire umbrella, a much cheaper option is to just have them recovered. We have ours done by Aysel, who has a workshop at the side of the bus station. She does curtains, cushions, lounger mattresses, upholstery and blinds as well as umbrellas. Fast service, reasonable prices. Look out for her sign, Sonmez dikis evi .

Hi will, do they speak English? When I come over in July I want to get some new cushions made for a bamboo patio set. Do you know if they would come to the house to measure up!
Thanks

Hi Begonvil
Aysel doesn't have much English but always seems to grasp all the relevant points and her husband speaks perfect French, which sometimes helps. If the transaction does get a bit complicated she always phones a Turkish speaking English person for help in translating. They will go to your home to measure up.
They do offer an option for all outdoor cushions/lounger covers and umbrellas, you can have non-fade fabric, it's about twice the price of regular fabric but it does offer remarkable savings in the long term. Our umbrellas and cushions are now in their fourth season, are outside in full sun the entire time and have not faded or deteriorated in any way, still look as good as the day they were delivered.
