Title: Back home now and missing Kalkan so much!
Post by: elcee on October 14, 2009, 11:00:05 AM
Well our first trip to Kalkan was wonderful, we only had 6 days so didnt do much other than wander around, eat, drink, sunbathe and generally chilled out. As soon as we walked into the bar/pool area of the Nur hotel (we were staying at the Nur apartments) we felt right at home.  Baris gave us lovely welcome and then one of his staff took us up to the apartment, we didnt unpack as we would usually but went straight back down to bar where again the staff were lovely. After a refreshing gin and tonic, thought we would have quick walk out of the hotel to just get general feel, and bearing in mind this was after midnight was pleasantly surprised to see/hear the atmosphere in the town was still buzzing, but not overpowering. Didnt go too far as soon realised would always need flat shoes for this walk!

Anyway had great time and will post some thoughts on restaurants later, but unfortunately had problem on way home - flight from Dalaman was cancelled (Easyjet) and we were transferred to the delightful Dalaman Park hotel for the night - not an experience we wish to repeat! Will get onto Easyjet now and seen if we are entitled to some sort of compensation for the cancellation etc.

Sorry to hear about your flight problems hope you manage to get some compensation. Really pleased to hear that you love Kalkan as much as we do, also handy to know that there is still a great atmosphere there at this time of year, we've been three times, went last year during June and this year at the end of June and the end of September, we enjoyed every minute and made many good friends there. Have thought that we maybe would like an Autumn holiday there next year. Just wondering what the temperature was when you were there, the time of year we've visited it's been really hot although it didn't bother us as you can always get into the shade to cool off. Looking forward to hearing more about your holiday, it's always interesting to hear about others' experiences of the place. Like you we're also pining for Kalkan, once visited never forgotten, roll on next year!!  8)
