Title: D400 road widening re-starts
Post by: kalkan wife on October 09, 2009, 02:24:18 PM
Some of you may have noticed 2 diggers and lorries have restarted digging in the area opposite the bus station exit onto the Kas road. According to KTLN web site today, work has started again to continue the road widening programme through to the Kisla exit.

Apparently, from Nov 1st more heavy construction equipment will arrive and work will continue in earnest. Sounds like we residents and visitors will experience a winter of noise, dust and general disruption. Sigh.

So what's new
But at least the house building season has been curtailed somewhat
Someone told me that heavy digging work will also have to stop early - maybe at the end of January as if they haven't done it by then they will not get the building finished by the end of the building season
Anyone know if this is correct??

Those who'se property is above the road (like mine) should start looking at how they are going to get down into town (Walk, scooter or car). I do not see ANY access roads/paths etc. Do you?  Andrew Scott,  Deniz Appartments

It may of a long walk now Andrew - have a look at this -

We love being up there but wish we had known what we knew what would happen when we bought - we are actually on Vatan Caddesi so not so bad for us to walk along and down but I don't know if it means that if you are lower than us you have to walk up and along and down?  Maybe someone 'in the know' could help??

Kay
PS can someone in Kalkan let me know if the all of the access roads from the D400 have now been blocked off as my sister will be arriving in the early hours of Saturday morning and I will have to give her alternative directions.  Thanks. K

Is there a a map of the new road layout available, from the descriptions so far I cannot work out where the crossing points will be. Surely they cannot intend to have no crossings.

Do have a look at the road plans on KTLN (you will need to join to view the maps). Although the plans are not final, and the national verses local road plan does differ, it appears there will be only 2 crossing points, one at the Luka restaurant turning into the village (Kas end) and one at the traffic lights. All the rest of the route will have a high wall on the Kiziltas side, just as it does in the area of the traffic lights and, therefore NOT accessible to cross.  At the moment all the access roads remain available to cars and pedestrians but not sure how long for as the diggers are out in force!

Thanks Kalkanwife.
I think this is really bad news. It will make no difference if you are in a car but it will be a nightmare to walk.  Even if some steps were built down so that there could be pedestrian access across the D400. It will certainly isolate Kiziltas from the rest of Kalkan - it will be like living on an island.

We have booked a villa behind Adda supermarket. Is this classed as Kizilitas. Not quite sure where Adda supermarket is, is it beside the car rental place?. The directions to the villa are that it is on the left heading to Patara Prince. Is this the area most affected by the roadworks?

The Adda Supermarket is just further down the road (towards town) than the Adda Rental Office. You should not be overly bothered by the roadworks, other than possibly the noise!!

Thank you Joan. We maybe would have been better staying in Kalamar with hindsight, but the noise echoes right round the bay anyway, I suppose.

http://www.turkishlocalnews.com/portal/local-news/45831-petition-for-better-road-access-for-kzlta

A link to a KTLN article about a petition to maintain reasonable access for residents of and visitors to the KızıltaÅŸ area.  We live halfway up the small road from the D400 to the Bella Monte hotel and it appears this may be next for closure, leaving our only access along the very scruffy track KaÅŸwards towards the Begonvil apartments.

Thanks for that.  I've just signed the petition and sent the link to our neighbours too.

There's an update on the Local News page of KTLN.  A meeting will be held at Samira Deluxe hotel tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday 11 November, at 1pm, where further signatures will be gathered.  Those present will then head for the belediye offices to hand over the petition to the Mayor.  Hopefully, all those EKers in Kalkan, particularly KızıltaÅŸ residents and owners, can try to go along and sign.

Just signed too. We own close to where they are planning a new road in from the Yelsikoy Road but still support more access roads for all. Fingers crossed the petition is successful for residents owners and local businesses.
