Hi coming to Kalkan on 23rd Sept - been searching through posts for any info on Scottish currency - will it be accepted or do I need to go to bank and get English ones before I come?
Thanks

Hi Anne
afraid Scottish notes are difficult if not nigh impossible to exchange in Turkey. We always change for English notes before we arrive. Cash points at Scottish airports usually only give out English notes so you can withdraw sterling that way or my local HSBC cash point also only dispenses English notes so if you have one near you could check that out.

Just noticed you're from East Kilbride and there's a Nat West cash point at Asda in Hamilton which also only dispenses English notes so if you're near there at any time maybe worth withdrawing cash there. The other machine I mentioned is an HSBC at Morrissons in Bellshill.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for all that - thought they would be looked on as 'funny money' just checking.

I'm sure you'll love it. I've been going to Kalkan for around 14/15 years and try to go twice a year. Was out in July and back again on 7th October and cannot wait.
Weather here has been atrocious this summer but isn't it always >:( might not be cold but the constant grey drizzle is just so depressing

We leave on the 8th so may have a short time to meet :)

we don't arrive until early hours of the 8th but will be at the market first thing in the morning :-) maybe bump into you there if you're doing some last minute haggling :D
