Myself and my better half are coming on the 24th of August for a week in Kalkan. We are so excited you just wouldn't believe - we've so many nice pictures and good reports.
We're staying in the Samira Garden's which again looks absolutely beautiful.
I'm just wondering whether there is a map or something we can access that have some restaurants, supermarkets, bars, beach clubs listed? When I see everyone talking about various places and giving directions it means nothing - is Kalkan an easy place to navigate on the whole?
Also we'd just like some suggestions on what to do really, we're after a relaxing holiday to be quite honest so I doubt trekking in the hills is something we're looking at but plenty of sunnning ourselves in lovely places and eating in gorgeous restaurants. So any advice you can give to us Kalkan newbies would be great.
Also we want to try a Turkish smoking pipe, which sounds strange, but they look fascinating - where can we go to find one of these?
Sorry for all the questions.

SI..go back to home..scroll down and you will see a Kalkan maps and directions section ..this will give you basics.....for a more concise map click onto www.turkishlocalnews.com you will have to register but if you nose about under map of kalkan .and enter food and drink it will show you locations...have fun....but don't forget to come back to EK...we are the people ;D ;D ;)
-
Si, the hills are unavoidable, unless you want to stay the whole time in Samira Garden ;D. Learn to love and embrace them..or get taxis everywhere ;D ;D.
I've not seen the pipes in Kalkan, perhaps another member knows where they are hidden? They would be outdoors in any case now given the new smoking ban so you might see them when you're wandering around.
Enjoy!

I think there are still pipes at Cafe del Mar - there are some photos on the website (www.cafedelmarkalkan.com)
-
I've never seen anyone using the pipes at Cafe Del Mar, I wrongly assumed they were ornaments ;D ;D
-
Last year their were pipes (and I saw people using them) at the Korsan Marina.
-
What about the Ottoman house by where Daphnes was,the place where you sit on cushions etc?

Yep, they've got them there. We ate there one evening and two aussie girls were toking away like there was no tomorrow. One of the girls got up, went to the loo, came back looking as white as a sheet then promptly fainted.
-
Blimey...who'd been in the loo? ;D ;D
