Title: 2nd visit
Post by: susie126 on August 05, 2009, 01:11:06 PM
Hi guys, this is my first post. six of us travelled to Kalkan in June. Fell in love with it. we stayed in Kisla.

four of us are going back in September and have booked a villa in Kalamar Bay.

We thought it may be nice to hit Kalkan from a different side as we didnt travel to Kalamar.

Any hints and suggestions of things we need to try and where do we actually arrive to in Kalkan. Keep hearing of the Kalamar road but cant say as we noticed it when in the town.

Thanks in advance

To find the Kalamar Road you go up from the first roundabout where the taxi's are (towards the weekly market) past Teskom and the Samira hotel to the second roundabout (where the Kaya restaurant and BBQ restaurants are). The Kalamar Road is off to the left.

Thank you

We only went up as far as the market so I guess didnt see that road.

It will be nice to walk in to Kalkan at night instead of getting a taxi from Kisla.

I presume we will be able to call for a drink somewhere on the way in do you know?

It's a long walk - and even longer and steeper going back!

If you went up to the market you were well past the road. The Kalamar road starts only about 100/150 meters up from the roundabout where the taxi's are.

Hi,

On the said roundabout there are 3 roads that lead off it....one, takes you down towards the town/harbour......another takes you up the hill out of Kalkan/towards the market......and the last one is, you guessed it !

We have a place in kalamar bay, and it takes us 20 mins to walk into town, just one steepish short incline, there are now quite a few bars hotels along the road that are well worth a visit.....hope you have a great time.
