Title: Newbie saying hello
Post by: xxsummerstarzxx on July 25, 2009, 06:39:03 AM
Hello!

Just thought I would introduce myself to you all before posting.

My name is Yvonne and I live in Essex in England.

I have been on holiday to Turkey (3 years ago) and am very keen to return. Last time I visited, I stayed in a villa near Fethiye and really enjoyed myself. I love the laid back lifestyle.

My hairdresser is Turkish and said Kalkan was a really nice place to spend time. I recommended it to my daughter and she and her family have just arrived for a 2 week stay. She sent me a message to say the town is lovely and her apartment is very nice too. I am sure she and he family will have a really good holiday.

So now I am thinking about looking for a nice villa to rent to go away myself next year. I do like to plan ahead! My partners birthday is at the beginning of July (7th) Is it unbearably hot at that time of year? Im thinking of booking somewhere private for 2 weeks. Somewhere secluded with a good size pool. It seems Kalkan isnt as built up as other towns so maybe it will be possible to find somewhere to suit us. Last time we visited Turkey we had neighbours next door and I got a little embarassed sunbathing. I wouldnt mind if I were a cute young thing but these days I like to keep covered up if anyone is around!  :-[

Thanks for the welcome  :)

Yes, Im sure I will hear all about Kalkan when Anna comes home. It is the first time she has had a holiday for 3 years so she will definitely be making up for lost time.

Thanks for pointing out the accomodation link, I just dived straight into the forum lol!

Can anyone tell me how I can get an avatar on my profile please?

Hi Yvonne

Nice to see another Essextonian on here!!  I have friends staying at mine at the moment with their 2 children aged 6 and 4.  First timers to Turkey and Kalkan and are absolutley loving it - so much so that they are already booked for next year.

I'm sure your daughter and her family will be having a ball

Hi Dawn,

Thanks for the reply. Its always nice to meet new people on the forums  :)

Anna's boys are 6 and 4 too, so its nice to know the little ones will be having a nice time as well as the grown ups!

I got a nice little message from them when they arrived to say they thought they were going to have a nice time which was a relief because I was the one who planned the holiday for them. Anna has just finished studying to become a teacher so her life has been very busy what with the children and a house to look after. Her husband is a tower of strength though and always mucks in.

Is your property in Kalkan itself Dawn? I bet its hard work to drag yourself away from Turkey to come back home to Essex!
