Lordy! Forgive the photography, its only a mobile phone.

Seemingly water is pumped at very high pressure through fine nozzles in front of the fan blades, vapourising it.

The effect was startling. Aircon for outdoors. Just the thing for a July lunchtime in Kalkers :)

I seem to recall that in Orlando in Florida in the theme parks - these fans are common place to keep people cool with a fine mist of spray - very refreshing...but i didnt see them at Aubergine last week - must have my eyes closed!! ;D ;D

they have used them in Florida for at least 20 years .
they are no good for ladies hair do,s. ;D

I thought this thread was about people who loved the restaurant not an actual "fan"
made me chuckle when I saw the picture ;D

We went to Aubergıne last night (the sprays were going). Overall a mixed experıence food was great and for the quality very reasonably prıced however, the service was terrible kept waiting forever (30 mıns for an ice cream!) forgotten drinks orders (including 3 reminders to get 1 beer) and to round it off the bill was incorrect.

They have these in Palm Springs, California, along all the shops and restaurants, they give out a fine mist of water to keep you cool, but a nightmare for the hair. Probably not worth using the straighteners!

the fans are definitely in situ in Aubergine, but I did find them a bit too much...to the point I felt a bit cold...IN JULY!!! Like Alantj mixed reviews about Aubergine this year. Our first visit of the trip was fantastic - best meal in Kalkan by far. As we were there with our daughters this year (20 and 16 yrs) we asked them where they wanted to go for the last evening and they unanimously voted for Aubergine. Our earlier experience was sadly not repeated and it was quite possibly the worst service we've ever had there...possibly the worst of any restaurant in Kalkan. We waited over an hour for our main course and then it came out piecemeal and mine was stone cold. By the time it was returned to me the others had finished eating and had not enjoyed their meals because I wasn't eating with them, then to top it all, my plate had just been put under a grill which made the seabass shrivel and dry out rendering it inedible. We decided to ask for the bill immediately and leave, I was furious they tried to not only charge for my meal but the 10% service charge too. I don't know what went wrong there that night but they were poor in delivery and putting it right. We eventually sorted it out but it was dissapointing to have to point out the obvious to them. I wished we'd gone back to Nar or Mousakka...or even made our thire visit to Chops - all excellent new additions.

thats why we don't go to Aubergine anymore.....But i do wish some of the other restaurants would follow suit with these cool sounding fans..it's so hard to do a meal justice when it's stifling hot(they even light a little fire on the table for you!!) ;)

These fans are AMAZING!! Especially in the heat of the day when you want to enjoy a nice lunch and cold beer on the harbour! It's just too hot to eat in many places at lunch time but these fans make it the perfect place to relax for the afternoon!

I'm sure they have these on the terrace at Zula too
