Got back home yesterday and thought I"d leave a few thoughts:
Kalkan is as beatiful and relaxing as ever!
However:
Dogs following us were a real problem. On Thursday we were followed by three large dogs from the top of Kalamar Road all the way into the market! My daughter says it was because they could sense I was scared and were trying to reassure me they wouldn"t hurt me - I was NOT reassured!!!!
Prices in some restaurants were much higher than expected - we just didn''t eat in those, as there''s still plenty of other choices.
We did see one incident of Brits behaving badly. It was quickly dealt with, but left us feeling embarrassed and ashamed that that would be the impression some people might have of British tourists.
On a more positive note, we went to the cookery course at Guru nun"yeri - it was great!
Weather was absolutely perfect, too, and getting hotter by the day!

Hi Ros,
Glad to hear Klakan is still as nice as ever....the dogs can be an issue we had NINE one night sat on the new under construction road luckily they didn''t follow us into town.
Was the incident with Brits behaving badly youngsters drinking to much ??

Thanks Ros for your frank report. I have to agree with you about the restaurant prices we tended to eat out at the smaller ones as we found our money disappearing quite quickly! We found the wine prices especially expensive. We didn''t see many dogs this year but we are not based on Kalamar road where a lot of them seem to congregate.

Hi Misty
The trouble we saw was with two young couples with small children in pushchairs. They''d clearly been drinking all evening. The language was awful!

So pleased you had a nice time RosiB. I am pleased that the cookery session at Gurus was good. I am hoping to go myself but only the 2 of us so we can''t book unless we can join up with someone and they said they would keep us posted. So fingers crossed!!!

Hi RosiB
Did you email the Gurus guy or how did you book? I emailed him a few weeks ago but haven''t had any reply. I''d love to do the cookery course. We''re there from 11 June - 25 June. Anyone else there then who would like to do it?

Some friends of ours are "JUST BACK"..they loved kalkan ..they said they will certainly return!! the only downside was walking past Merkez..they were made to feel uncomfortable by people staring at them.On the occasion they did sit down the table next to them comprising men and women smartly dressed for an evening out, proceeded to loudly talk about and take the P**s out of people walking by....just goes to show class is something you either have or not just like manners ..unlike clothes which although different everybody has!! ;)
