Title: Mobile Phone Stuff
Post by: Wendy on May 05, 2009, 08:56:03 PM
OK - have I got this correct?

I have a Turkish moby.
I also have a UK unlocked moby (no roaming sim card etc yet)
I also have a UK orange contract phone (this is the most expensive way I know!)

From my research it would appear that the cheapest way for me to ring the UK (landlines and moby) is to use my Turkish moby?

Or do I get a roaming sim?

I know the cheapest is the Post Office but for business I need the cheapest way to ''phone home'', from one or other of the mobys.

Comments please...... ! ;)

Yes, I think the Turkish mobile is the cheapest option out of the three.

There is another method.  I try to use Skype for international calls.  I use it from my computer - the call quality is good and calls to landlines are very cheap (typically 1-3p per minute).

You can now install Skype on devices such as smartphones (e.g. iPhone) or wifi devices/phones (iPod touch but lots of other cheap devices too) and use a local Wifi hotspot to make free (Skype to Skype) or cheap (landlines) calls.  See...http://skype.com/intl/en-gb/mobile/

I also use Skype from my laptop, cheapest method, and good quality.

Doug used skype every day to call me last week - sometimes 4 times in one day!!!!!!  I''m sure it''s cos he wanted to see the puppy, rather than see me!
