Title: Fishing
Post by: onelove on April 09, 2009, 09:25:43 AM
Hi,

I have been looking around the waters edge in Kalkan and Kalamar bay for a good spot for fishing, and as yet failed to find a good area for this......nothing to serious, just pleasure and maybe enough of a catch for a BBQ !............Any ideas ? ? ?

i have seen fish in the harbour they like the shade from the boats,i have also seen people with hand lines and bread on the pathway leading to the lighthouse fishing in between boats..(You might have to catch a lot for a barbie!!)even if you don''t catch anything it''s a nice place to sit and contemplate your navel ;)

Having fished a lot in the winter from the beach club at Kalamar - if I was relying on what I caught to live I would have been dead for several months now. :(
There are fish there as you can often watch them swim past you, and particularly good are calamari in February / March which are more catchable.
You really need deeper water from a boat to have some chance of success, but even the local fishermen seem to struggle.
The fish market or the fish farm behind the Letoon Hospital in Fethiye are good as has been suggested previously or the freezer cabinet in BIM where they sell lovely Mezgit [a thick meaty white fish ] which is ideal for frying or fish pies.
Good hunting but leave some for me please :)

Deep fast flowing cold currents is what the boat man told me..I just nodded and agreed and asked for another Efes from the boats fridge

Hiya,
If you do find somewhere to fish from can I tag along? I''d love to go fishing and haven''t done so since I was 15 and went trout fishing in the local res.
Best bet would probably to rent a boat.
Can''t remember when you are there now (we saw you in Kaya) will do your pics then if you like - I''m going to teach Soner too! :)

Why don''t you ask Soner to take you all out fishing! He''s supposed to be getting a bigger boat!
